Slaughter's Marauders sounded like it should be a team of pirates

I always viewed Python Patrol and Tiger Force as Jungle ops troops and equipment, but we only had so many Cobra troops so the PP guys tended to get used all the time. Beyond that, the only Slaughter's Marauders we had were Spirit and Barbecue, and at the time those were the only versions of the characters we had, so they were just regular uniforms.
Ditto Night Force, as that was the only version of Shockwave we had. With Sky Patrol, we had Skydive, but put an extra Gyro-Viper head on him, thus he became an underling to regular Gyro-Vipers. The blue fit in with Cobra better. Quote:
Let's not forget about the most recent sub team, Wolf Squad.
In 2015-2016, Hasbro unsuccessfully attempted to return to that concept of a new sub team (Wolf Squad) for selling repainted product, starting with the 50th Anniversary Silent Strike set, but it just didn't seem to catch on this time, and the G.I. Joe team was laid off shortly after that. We're talking a toy line that had a evil quick-change artist biker rock wizard whose name was an anagram of Tarzan's. There's a lot of silliness and goofy names in GI Joe. That's part of what makes it great, part of the fun. |

Oh yeah, me too. I actually like Tiger Force, Python Patrol, Zartan, Dreadnoks and Tomax and Xamot way more now than I did as a kid.

Another faction I really enjoy was introduced in 2002 and expanded upon with a more interesting background story via a comic book in 2009: the Crimson Strike Team.

I kind of disliked them because it felt like it took away the uniqueness of the Crimson Guard as CC's bodyguards. I always took Tomax and Xamont as the heads of his bodyguards, because they loved money and CC pays damn good so their loyalty is bought.
Generic low grunt Vipers with that color scheme felt too...meh, especially since Destro's team all had unique looks. CG Baroness though seemed a good idea, since I usually kept her as loyal to CC since she was his right hand early in the comics. |

They don't really exist in my head-canon. Ninja Force is obviously a thing, even though I don't care for having so many choppy-socky guys show up for GI Joe at once, but I don't really "do" Python Patrol, Tiger Force, Night Force or Slaughter's Marauders. Just repaints to re-sell old toys. Even as a kid, I didn't buy it lol.
Tiger Force & Night Force were missions run by GIJOE NINJA Force is now defunct Slaughter's Marauders is now defunct Python Patrol's duty is to protect the Terror Drome |

I only have the Renegades and Sg Slaughter in my collection, along with a TF Duke, since I missed the OG in 1985.
In my fan-fic, I've used Sky Patrol as a specialist airborne group of Joes; Night Force appeared as an ad-hoc group conducting a covert nocturnal hostage rescue mission; the rest only 'appear' as part of the background to most of my fic which is the comics stories. Skystriker and the Tiger Rat are just another pilot and his jet. In another fic universe I had planned to do a sequel which would've added Sky Patrol as a dedicated Airborne Pathfinder element and Ninja Force as a team of CIA covert ops types who called themselves 'ninjas' in a joking fashion and their codenames were chosen as jokes for Bushido, Nunchuk, Dojo and Banzai. |

In the DIC era, of course, Python Patrol's opposite number was Slaugher's Marauders, even if in the toys it was clearly Tiger Force (for the "each steals the other side's vehicles" gimmick).
I think BattleForce 2000 was supposed to run counter to the Iron Grenadiers, as well. As noted, the Sky Patrol figures make sense, it's just the vehicles that are odd. Wasn't the justification that it was radar-reflective paint or something like that? |

also the chrome was intended to be radar reflective. |
