Was born in 1985. My earliest memory of GIJoes are from Christmas Day of 1990. Between myself and my older brothers, we got Range Viper, Rock Viper, Saw Viper, Ambush, Captain Gridiron, Sub Zero, Bullhorn, etc. Felt like it was the whole 1990 lineup from what I can remember.
From there I eventually inherited most of the figures from the years that came before as being the youngest of 4 boys. My oldest brother eventually lost interest and most of the cobra lineups were passed down to me including a beat up and incomplete terror drome. What a time to be alive, ha. |

Very cool, I was also a 1971 kid. I don't remember my first Joes but I do remember the first time I saw them. I was at my friend's house and we saw the TV ad with all the figures. That commercial made a strong impression on me and after that I lost interest in Star Wars. I know that I had the RAM, Vamp and the missile launcher. My sister got Scarlett.
Something interesting that I just realized. I loved the bad guys with Star Wars - Vader, tie fighter, boba fett, storm troopers, but didn't get into Luke, X-wing...only Han Solo. But with Joes, I was all about the good guys like Snake Eyes, Stalker, Flash, Rock n Roll, but I didn't really get any Cobra figures or vehicles. Good times.

Born '74, started collecting the Marvel comics in '82 as a kid (but I missed out the first few issues). My first GI Joe figure was Beach Head. Got him as a reward for doing a music recital in '86. I got him before the recital and couldn't open it until I finished the event. So for a week or so, I would just hold the packaging and look at the toy inside in anticipation. Ever since then, he's been my favorite character haha.

I’m a child of the 80s( and late 70s ). I was 8 when I got my first two Joes in 1982. Super-X drug store had a special 2 for $3.00 for GI Joe figures! My Mom bought me Snake Eyes and Short Fuze. A few days later my Dad bought me the FLAK Canon and Rock & Roll. I was hooked from then on. Joe quickly replaced Star Wars as my favorite toy line. 42+ years later GI Joe is still number 1; and Star Wars number 2.

I was born in '74. Had a lot of Joes and vehicles from the beginning of the line in the 80's. I mostly remember getting lots of figures each year for Christmas.
The only story I really have, that I can remember anyways, was being on a little trip with my mom and sister to visit some relatives across the state one summer. After we got to the small town we were visiting, my mom let my sister and me get some toys at a local small store. I got Torpedo and Firefly. As disparate as their specialties are, they became mortal enemies during that trip and had some epic battles. |

1973.
As a uk kid starred with palitoy and their joe repaints / reuses. Didn’t like it as much when action force changed in 1985 but liked the change when the comics changed to marvel uk and reprints of joe. Now u still love the palitoy era- the black major his red shadows and the original gi joe us run Collection wise I have the aforementioned palitoy only stuff and then old school joes 82- 88 Still probably the best toy line of the 80s.
