Born early 70s. Got my first Joes in '82 with straight arm Snake Eyes (thought he was a bad guy) and Stalker (thrown away when O-ring broke, stupid me). Got Marvel issues #5 and #6 as first Joe comics. Slowly transitioned away from Star Wars to full time Joes over '83 with Ace and Skystriker as first vehicle. Peak ARAH collecting was '84 and '85. Got the USS Flagg for my birthday in early '86. Only got a few figures from '87.

1971. Started collecting the Marvel comic book with issue #1 and stopped somewhere in high school. My first Joe was Flash. The comics were my Joe canon. The cartoons were some other universe to me, but I watched them because I was a fan. I stopped being interested in the toys after Battleforce 2000, but bought a few pieces here and there into the early 90s. I was into Resolute and Renegades, but not enough to make me want the toys.
The Classified line has brought me back into the fold full force. |

I was born in November of 1977. Motu was the first action figure line I fell in love with and then it was transformers for a couple of years. I started watching the sunbow cartoon in 1985 to pass the time until my school bus showed up. After a while, the cartoon became my favorite. Viper and Beachhead were my first two figures and I got those in 1986

Kid knocked on our door selling magazines. Begged my mom to get me a subscription to G.I. Joe comics. She did, and the first issue that showed up was issue 21.
I was so confused. I didn't understand where the words went. But it was also the greatest thing I'd ever seen. So I started whenever issue 21 came out.

1970. My first figure was an '82 straight arm Short-Fuze, my first vehicle was a FLAK. And the first Joe comic I had was issue #4.

Early 75. A few of the older kids that had Adventure Team figures are what got me started down the path.

Born in ‘79, but Christmas of ‘83 or ‘84, Joe Base, a slew of figures and MOBAT that Santa delivered sealed my fate and haven’t looked back since, YO JOE! Plus a BIG thanks to Santa (I still believe)!

82 - my first JOES (and most my toys actually) were actually all hand me downs from my mother's friend's son who was starting to outgrow them. Looking back I think the only figures I for sure remember were Short-Fuze and Breaker who I had no knowledge of at the time since I wasn't reading the comics then. I would have been playing with these in the late 80s and early 90s.
In the Philly area there used to be a store called Woolworth's that sold toys (and apparently military surplus guns) and my mom would take me there to browse with an occasional purchase. She was a waitress and we did not have surplus money to spend on non essentials but my parents definitely still did from time to time. Other stores that are no longer around we shopped for JOES and toys at were KB Toys, Kiddie City and of course Toys R' Us. My favorite was Discount Harry's over on Route 70 or 30 in Jersey. More expensive than TRU and Kiddy City but usually reliable for finding rarer figures. |
