We have Vehicles and weapons, so I figure why not a thread for equipment too?
I wanted to start with Falcons backpack; in the classified line he still has what looks (to me) like a big pack with a giant radio in it. Is that still relevant in the military of today? I DID discover that Outbacks Torch, while not necessarily current issue, is still widly in use in many countries around the world. So thats cool

These are cutting edge: https://www.l3harris.com/all-capabil...manpack-radios, here's what is in common use (or was until recently): https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/AN/PRC-117 and https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/AN/PRC-150 Manpack radios are big because of the need to ruggedize them, durability, the extra hardware for multiband functionality, built in antenna tuning, batteries (omg!), encryption hardware and supporting high power output and long duty cycle (strong signal output and ability to transmit a lot in a short period of time, respectively). Out of all that; it's mostly ruggedization, batteries, power output and duty cycle that really bulk things up. You can really wear a radio out to the point of breaking it if you transmit too much on a radio that's not designed for a long duty cycle. HF comms units are also usually bigger for reasons I don't entirely understand. They also typically have a lot of extra "widgets" like filters that don't seem to be common on VHF comms. Was it by design that the character is named after the radio or a cool coincidence?

Thats fantastic info on the radios, and great to know, thank you! Makes me feel better about the whole figures gear!
I love hearing about the real gear militaries wear.
