It?s time. Sticking stuff on eBay this week. Not that I?m dying or anything, but if anything were to happen to me, I don?t want my family to walk to my shop and say, ?what are doing to do with all his crap??
My kids don?t care enough about my toy collection that they?re just as likely to take it to a vintage toy store and take whatever offer they could get. I usually just used them for photography subjects, but I haven?t had a chance to really get out and do any shots with them. I?ll hang on to the some of my vintage stuff that?s been mine since I was a kid, the few pieces that remained after my father told me to sell all my crap when I started high school. But, the newer stuff? Nah. Time for it to go. |

It's always good to have a list of the "ten percent", the stuff you'd keep even if you had to sell everything. I've purged and re-built my collection over the years, but there's always a few that never leave.

But, the newer stuff? Nah. Time for it to go. My living room is full of unopened boxes of stuff. Not completely full, but none of it should be there and just has to go. Like previously mentioned, super nostalgic things I'll keep. Like I'll keep at least one 1984 Baroness and Destro. I have multiple lol. I think I'm done with Classifieds at this point. Whatever I have opened I'll keep, but I don't think I'll ever have room to display them all without spending a fortune on shelving, cases, etc. I may keep SDCC Zartan and Mindbender also. The rest is just meh at this point. |

I'd certainly err on the side of caution with what you get rid of. I would at least identify the things that hold sentimental value to you. Also, you should consider selling items here rather than Ebay. They charge 12% on every auction/item sold. At least here you can make deals through paypal friends and family and not get screwed by ebay fees.

it's a seller's market for vintage stuff. there are block heads paying 30 bucks for incomplete tunnel rats - figure only - in facebook auction groups just to brag about it and raise the price on common figures.
you can easily sell to one of these dopes for as much as you want. |

you can easily sell to one of these dopes for as much as you want. I didn't get "back" into GI Joe collecting until the 2000s. At that point, you could get popular 1984 figures for around $20. Some like Storm Shadow were going for twice that. Compare it to what you see on eBay today. A complete, white version of Storm Shadow will be over $100. Some of the stuff I sold 10 years ago is going for many times what I let it go for. I had a mint MM Cobra Commander. Absolutely perfect. Sold it for $90. Now I'm seeing those in worse condition going for like $400. |

Dude i have a nearly complete 1987-1990 collection i bought in the early 2000's when the oring line came back. Figures, all accessories and filecards.
And the figures were bought at 3 for 10 bucks. The accessories for nickels. It's ridiculous now. |

Yeah I bought a few Baronesses on eBay just so I could finally get one with a perfect logo. The one I had as a kid has no logo left at all. lol
They were averaging like $18 each. All were in really good condition but I got OCD with it and kept buying more until I was satisfied. Now these would probably go for around $60 each. You just never know what the collector market will do though. Once people with enough nostalgia to buy these get older, the prices will most likely go down. Like the western toys that were popular in the 50s and 60s. I don't think anyone wants those anymore. |
