I?ve heard several stories of Target preorders getting canceled when payment method has been changed, so I was very hesitant to do so when Target upgraded my Target RedCard to a RedCard Mastercard.
I loaded the new RC Mastercard into my profile and went into each preorder on the app and updated the information and never had any trouble. Everything switched over and some of the orders have since shipped. Lucky, I guess. |

Thanks for the support, advice, and commiseration, everyone. It has helped to have a place to vent (and document).
Shockingly enough, I have not yet had any cancellations today, though those last 5 orders still show my RedCard. I am not counting on them happening. One was a duplicate order (it was in stock for a second when I tried to rebuy it but immediately went out of stock). One was a Masterverse figure that I got for 25% off. If I do not get it, I will live. I jumped on it because of the price. Two I reordered. That leaves the two TVC Ax Woves that I will have to furiously hunt for in stores alongside the TVC Bobas I lost. |

Sidebar to the story. While I was on the phone for three hours last night (though to be fair, there was a time in there I fielded a call from a friend for birthday wishes), my son sliced a bit of his finger off. (Small part). I heard my wife trying to stop the bleeding but did not realize that she had taken him to urgent care until I was done with Target.
Setting aside the 8-9 hours I spent on the phone with them over three days, what price do you put on not being there for your son when he might have benefited from you offering a little comfort (I would have hung up had I known he was going to urgent care, by the way)? |

When SNAFUs like these happen, just remind yourself it’s just stuff and save yourself the stress and frustration. These items will be available through other avenues even if perhaps a bit pricier. Hope you feel better.

I think my frustration was borne of the fact that this really should have been a simple thing to fix (just change the card info somehow!), yet I kept getting lied to or diverted into conversations about orders that had absolutely nothing to do with the problem. He is. Thank you. He has worked as a lifeguard all summer, and this is his final weekend. He could have chosen to use the injury as a valid excuse to not work, but he chose to go in. I hope he has learned an important lesson about safety when handling tools (in this case kitchen tools). |
