Zarana's dragon tattoo can still be seen in some early appearances in the Marvel comic.

There might be something that does.
While it is important to understand that Ron Rudat wanted Zandar's scarf to match Zarana's shirt color, it does not determine that the fabrics are one and the same. (The siblings matching Dragon Tattoos on their upper left arms is of far more significance in my opinion but was eliminated before the figures went to production.) The fabric colors matching must have been important to Ron Rudat and possibly more members of the design team working on those figures, because the factory paint applications did match after production of the action figures. What is interesting to me is that Hasbro's 1988 International Licensing Guide indicated that the fabric worn by Zandar was supposed to be more of a violet (color 246), and the shirt worn by Zarana was supposed to be pink (color 190) as designated by their Pantone Matching System color chart designations. "The line art and color specifications used in this kit have been prepared to aid in the use of the property. The PMS colors specified for each character must be used consistently to maintain a distinctive look." Because Ron Rudat was no longer on the design team that year, might that indicate that other members of the design team no longer wanted the scarf to match the shirt color? Who knows? https://www.3djoes.com/1988-internat...ing-guide.html Quote:
My honest answer is that toy manufacturers are always looking for ways to save a few cents here or there during production.
These figures share some parts (upper arms) and were made from the same batch of ultra-secret color-change plastic, so it's only natural for them to share the same paint apps as well. The reason his scarf is the same exact shade of pink as her top is because the factory used the same paint for both in order to save money, and the figures were designed to have colors in common so kids could see them side by side and understand that they are siblings. I honestly believe that's all there ever was to it. Now if you like to believe that it's supposed to represent the same actual piece of fabric....sure, why not? You can make up any story you want. Toys are supposed to inspire kids to use their imagination.

It is likely that the Marvel artists were working off of the original art and did not know that Hasbro had to change out the upper arms of that action figure, which eliminated the Dragon Tattoo.

Here's the picture from the page in question.
It doesn't state that his scarf is specifically from Zarana's ripped shirt like some of us believe. In his card art the scarf around his neck appears to be ripped. The during a Classified Zarana reveal Emily and Lenny talked about Zarana and Lenny did say that the original Zarana shirt was a ripped shirt. Those elements are being put together by some, not just Dreadnok Twins, as visual evidence that Zandar is wearing a ripped piece of fabric, from Zarana's ripped shirt,as a scarf. I have seen a paint app production thing where it said the figures were supposed to have DIFFERENT colors. And we have seen various images of Zarana having torn or wavy shirts. So her shirt being torn is still debatable IMO. I have always believed that Zandar was wearing a torn scarf though. And if Rudat says they were supposed to have matching shirt/scarf - then that does lend more truth to the theory. I did watch when Lenny said it was a torn shirt.. but that doesn't mean much to me. He could have been referring to any images we have seen.. same as if he said it was a wavy blouse.. his opinion isn't the final say unless is referencing the original designer. And anything Emily says doesn't mean much to me, she never even held a Joe until like 2 years ago. Pretty much everyone posting in these forums is an expert compared to her. anyhow, I'm still undecided at this point if he is wearing a piece of her shirt. I definitely won't say its wrong.. I just don't know. Maybe at one point growing up they both had matching shirts... but he grew out of his and tore it up into a scarf lol |

Please, PLEASE show me the evidence where Ron Rudat stated that the scarf is a torn piece of the shirt. That would end this debate once and for all, forever and ever in perpetuity.
Cause I saw that Zandar production sketch and the only thing it said was "scarf should match Zarana's shirt." As in, the COLOR should match, as in, the actual paint application that will be used on both figures should be the same. Same color. That's all it ever said. Same color. That's one hell of a damn leap to "oh the same color means it's the same piece of fabric!" Storm Shadow has a black belt. Snake Eyes' uniform is black. I guess that means that Storm Shadow is running around with a torn piece of Snake Eyes' uniform around his waist, so he can always feel closer to his sword brother? DreadnokTwins came up with this idea that the scarf is a piece of her shirt. Nothing ever stated contradicts it. If people want to believe this little piece of fan canon, that's fine. It doesn't hurt anyone. But by boldly claiming there's "concrete evidence" that Ron Rudat intended this as far back as the 80s, that's just patently false and you're spreading misinformation. I imagine if we contacted Mr. Rudat about it now, he'd probably say "Oh...OK, yeah, sure, it's a piece of her shirt." If he says so, I'd agree with him retroactively changing it, like Larry did with the newer comics, cause they're both the authority on such matters. DT has admitted many times that she was the one that came up with the idea. Don't put words in Ron Rudat's mouth. 100% correct on all statements here. and love the idea of Storm Shadow wearing a piece of Snake Eyes fabric too |

Him being from the UK is only true in one continuity. His birthplace was unknown in the toyline and throughout the ARAH line.

I think you're all burying the lede here. Zandar's headband is from the rips in Monkeywrench's jeans...

And Dusty, football pants are really comfortable without pads in them...can't fault him for that choice.
