It's SDCC time, and I just wonder what happens to the elaborate toy displays. I remember the one for ROC, it was an entire mountain. The time and talent it takes, it would be a waste just to chuck them. So,are they dismantled, sold, took home by the designer, or warehoused?

I would wager it's usually destroyed due to risk of intellectual property theft and resale on the secondary market. I once did a lot of promotional work for a major film studio & making sure promotional material was returned for destruction or destroyed on site was a huge deal.

Such a waste. I get it, but still. That happens at my plant too. You can't imagine the equipment and material we toss for various legal and liability reasons. Pisses me off really.

The toys are probably packed up and taken back to HQ, but the bigger dioramas and what not are likely destroyed

Thanks for the answers guys. Disappointed, but now I'm informed. This is one of the many reasons I joined the 'Tank.

4hm used to travel with a giant ogre head but it was too expensive to keep shipping back and forth so they sold it to a fan at one of the conventions.
