Tactics Ogre has a solid game style for it. Up to 50 in your army and 8-12 can be used per combat. Everyone would have their own personal styles and skills you can train up. Tactics Ogre also has a bunch of side characters you can unlock, means of potentially recruiting enemies later in the game, and a complex political story. All of which translate great to a Joe game. Just figure the actual combat system would mirror XCom a bit more.

Ok, yeah, that would be awesome. Especially done like those early ones where you would run the gauntlet of Marvel villains. Be perfect for not just having a ton of playable Joes, but pretty much every Cobra villain you could want. And then various bonuses for specific team compositions.

I’d play any of those as long as they were good. I’d really like an RTS like Command & Conquer Red Alert. Lean into the campiness during the cut scenes so that the voice actors can chew the scenery. One of the best moments in gaming is Tim Curry barley holding it together while delivering the line “In Space!”

I've just started a Far Cry series replay and I could see a G.I. Joe version of this game, where you can choose between a set group of Joes (ala Far Cry 2) and invade Cobra Island. There would be a Terrordrome at the center of the island, where you would eventually have to make your way and eliminate either Cobra Commander or Serpentor. Throughout the island would be other installations, docks, airfields, small outposts, etc... Numerous Cobra troop types would inhabit the island... mostly blue shirts, Vipers, and BATS... but also other types, depending on the area of the island. Lampreys, Hydro-Vipers, and Eels down by the docks. Snow Serpents and Rock Vipers up in the mountain passes. Strato Vipers and other pilot types at the airfields. In the Terrordrome and other key installations would be Crimson Guards. Cobra vehicles would be all around the area, as well. HISS tanks, Stuns, and Stingers traveling around on the ground, as well as the Thunder Machine, for the Dreadnoks (which you can take control of, if you complete the Dreadnok side quest and eliminate Thrasher). Rattlers, Trouble Bubbles, Claws, and Fangs in the air. Morays, Hydro Sleds, and the Moccasin (if you eliminate Copperhead) on the water. Cobra outposts would have to be eliminated to provide access to greater gear and instead of alarm boxes to disable and prevent Cobra troops from calling reinforcements, each outpost would have a number of Tele-Vipers you need to eliminate, or they will call in reinforcements. Day/night cycles on the island and at night, the Night Vipers come out, with their infrared goggles, making it more difficult to hide, if you're not careful. Other Joes will be scattered throughout the island, offering advice, assistance, and providing you with side quests and stages of the main quest.

Yeah, it's pretty much the same system. Same gameplay style. FF Tactics has an awesome class and skill system, but only allows like 4-6 characters per battle. Tactics Ogre gives 8-12, but has a more limited class and skill system. FF Tactics also has a more straightforward story, while Tactics Ogre lets you branch off into Lawful, Neutral, and Chaotic paths. Another detail I think would be awesome for a Joe variant of the game. Decisions affecting the path you're on. I love both games, but between the two, Tactics Ogre is my personal favorite.
