I am highly disappointed in how Hasbro is handling the line. I was under the impression o’rings were coming out this year. Now rumors are being said they are doing a soft reboot in ‘23.
While they announced some o’ring stuff this year, they are only re-releasing the same figures we already got from the Retro Walmart exclusives (which seems self-defeating as a business model). They had the Retros on the shelves while announcing the 2pks. I can’t quite square up why someone would pay for the Cobra trooper 2pk for $42, when they can still find the same thing online from Retro for under $30. Doesn’t make sense. I firmly backed the Haslab Skystriker without hesitation, I was kind of hoping they had another 3.75” announcement for Haslab so we could get two vehicle releases in ‘23. Seems like that is unlikely. I believe the next Haslab is classified, I will not be backing that project. I am finding it amazing to believe Mattel, who use to have their lunch handed to them by Hasbro, is kicking Hasbro’s butt with their MOTU line, while Hasbro is trickling figures out. They are getting 16 figures plus vehicles out a year, while Hasbro can’t seem to walk and chew gum. I have zero interest in the Classified lines and feel it is too display-ish and like Hasbro is forgetting the kids with the GiJoe line as it is. Super 7 would be cool with proper articulation. I can not see myself spending $20 for what is essentially a MASK figure with generic weapons. My “HOPES” are they get it together soon. The only reason I got back into collecting is so my son can get these 3.75” when he reaches an acceptable age to have them. If they do, they will get my money. If they don’t, then they will not. There always vintages out there and replacement O’rings to get them up to par. |

I think the real problem with a G.I.Joe movie is no one really wants to watch a live-action G.I.Joe movie a cartoon, streaming series, or video game is good enough.

That's a fair point. Even as a Joe nerd, I wasn't exactly clamoring for a GI Joe film.

Well, they are still using the ARAH universe, so I appreciate that. I wish there was a blockbuster movie and a fun cartoon and a popular video game that resonated with kids. Things could always be bigger and better I guess.
The Joe Team was dealt a harsh hand, given that the relaunch occurred in 2020. Sometimes GI Joe just can't seem to catch a break.

Lol Yeah, but let's not ignore Guardians being part of one of the most popular & successful film franchises ever. Not apples to apples.

That didn't necessarily guarantee it's success. The MCU is a franchise made-up of smaller franchises, i.e., Avengers, Captain America, Thor, etc.; each with varying levels of success.

This is a good point. I think the problem with the live-action films is that Lorenzo Di Buenaventura sucks at selecting directors for Hasbro properties. His only reasoning for picking Robert Schwentke to direct Snake Eyes was the fact that they worked on Red together. That's not a good reason to pick a director especially when Red is an outlier on that director's resume. Schwentke is also responsible for RIPD and Divergent. If we had a competent producer in charge of these films like Kevin Fiege then we'd have directors who actually cared about the material they're adapting to film. So far Travis Knight remains to be the only director Lorenzo Di Buenaventura selected that cared about a Hasbro property.

And yet somehow, Michael Bay's Transformers, with racist stereotype Autobots and Devastator's balls, is a multi-billion dollar franchise.
