Dimmer switch on the floor.
Don't forget the stick shift on the side of the steering column. Old Ford F150.

I miss being able to tune a carburetor and remove a steering wheel or dash without having to safe the explosives.

Thanks to Star Wars and the Space 1999 Eagle I was already prepared when ARAH came along.

The Star Trek and GI Joe "Dolls" found their way to the Garage Sale.

Sadly, everything else followed suit a few years later. Wish I still had that Eagle.

My brother was born in 68 and was from the "old school" but he fell in love with ARAH right away. I remember him buying me the Dragonfly and Rip-Cord from his own allowance. He loved the more practical and realistic Joe's like Low-Light, Roadblock and Leatherneck. I was into the ninja, sci-fi and weirdo aspect lol.

I can relate to that, because I was born in 1968 and was also from the "old school" of G.I. Joe, enjoying hours of play with toys such as the Action Soldier, Adventure Team, Mike Power the Atomic Man, and more.

My younger brother missed out on that era, but he had his chance in 1982 with A Real American Hero. I was happy for him, and so impressed by that product line, that I'm still obsessing over it today.

I would assemble and place the stickers on my brother's toys for him, and purchase figures and small G.I. Joe items for him using money I earned from my afterschool job.

Thanks for the insightful replies guys.

I would absolutely say that the "basement dweller" of the early 80's was certainly more...affluent and beneficial to society in terms of being productive then the modern ones. Unfortunately, you guys already know the score already. A certain Retro'youknowwho' comes to mind nowadays.

I would also say writing to the magazines and expressing your views and putting your name and address on something was also far more courageous back then and took more work.

I definitely remember my Dad's generation getting pretty triggered by Star Trek: The Next Generation at first, I guess it was 1987 or so. But by 1990, they loved that shit.

I've hung out with both eras of collectors during one of the conventions, the 12in guys didn't mind I was into 3 3/4, I only remember them not liking Sigma 6.

Oh yeah, there was a big stink fest over that for some time.
