I would say Gung-Ho. Then maybe Sci-Fi.

I can get why some people say Zartan, but for me the answer's gotta be Mindbender.
Still love him. For me he was wacky in all the right ways. But it's gotta be Mindbender. The wacky figure I liked then but hate now is Big Boa. I think I still like Crystal Ball and Raptor more than a lot of people. But I get that Raptor is probably the most completely nonsensical of all the figures.

From the looks of the figures, these were made before Palitoy started integrating Hasbro's more highly articulated ones. In essence, before Action Force became British G.I. Joe (not meant in a pejorative way). That being said, it wouldn't make your point of view any less valid, since this is all subjective.
Anyhow, to return to the thread topic, I feel like the wholly hard military science fiction character of '82 went out the door with designs such as the H.I.S.S and FANG. Cobra has always had more of the kooky feel to it, being more of a supervillain group since the introduction of Destro. Ultimately, the line's not wholly hard mil sf or kooky adventure, and that's what lends it its strength.

Yep, two of my favorites, too- I just couldn't resist reminding everyone of G.I. Joe's realistic roots!
Just so happens I love Joe for it's wackiness, not in spite of it.

Destro with his shiny chrome noggin and the FANG and HISS vehicle-wise.
