According to Wikipedia, a "Patrol" is 12-24 soldiers, made up of 2-3 squads or 3-6 fireteams.
If you were going to limit your head-canon Python Patrol to 24 soldiers, how would you organize them? I use the camo patterns to distinguish the squads within Python Patrol, so in my head, I organize mine like this: Green Squad (6), Jungle/Swamp missions: Copperhead - Water Moccasin pilot Trigger - Water Moccasin gunner 1x Officer 1x Tele-Viper Officer 2x Trooper Grey Squad (6), Urban missions: Croc-Master - sewers Lightning - driving Stun 1x Python (Crimson) Guard 1x Tele-Viper '89 in Trubble Bubble 1x Viper '89 1x Python Motor-Viper in Stinger Red Squad (12), all other missions Major Bludd Vypra 2x Python BAT 1x HEAT Viper 1x Laser Viper 1x SAW Viper 1x Rock Viper 1x Lamprey 1x Tele-Viper '04 2x Python Viper '04 Last edited by Bryon; 03-12-2024 at 03:44 PM.. |

I have a different interpretation of the word Patrol as used in the name of this elite unit of handpicked troopers.
Instead of using the word to describe a small tactical formation, I understand Patrol to mean keeping watch over an area by regularly traveling around or through it at regular intervals. In that regard, Python Patrol does not describe the total manpower of this particular unit, but rather the mission or purpose they are intended to be used for.

I always saw the 6 original figures as "The Python Patrol".

Oh, see I treat Python Patrol the same as hasbro treats things like Crimson or environmental. It's just a different segment of the cobra army. Like Python Patrol is Cobra's answer to having troops for jungle environments.
When it comes to how I treat them in my collection, I've been using them as Serpentor's personal army. My head cannon is that in the Classified Universe, Cobra Commander and Serpentor agreed to split Cobra's operations between the northern and southern hemispheres so Python Patrol is perfect for places like South America or Africa.

Even with alot of the good clearance deals on classified python patrol, it would've been cheaper to treat them like you do Bizcopperhead

i think they were intended as a whole new army for cobra during operation dragonfire. i dont fully remember. when i think of python patrol and tigerforce i think of "jungle mission"
i dont really treat them as anything other than a different uniform. a python viper, is a regular viper but for the jungle. |

I only use four types on PP: officer, trooper, tele-viper, and viper to fly the trouble bubble. In my head they are special forces squad for covert jungle operations. Copperhead does not lead them. As I see Copperhead as coast guard captain/leader around Cobra Island.
In the DIC cartoon PP basically took over as the main army for Cobra Commander led my Copperhead. They were snakes turned into men. This was abandoned after Operation: Dragonfly. |

I use them sorta like Hama did. They were stealth and night operations force. They had that special "PYTHONIZED" chemical that Mindbender invented.
