Interesting discussion. I've always imagined that since the Joes operate pretty differently than other military units/branches, their agents can pick pretty much any weapon they want from the Joes' vast inventory of standard-issue, foreign, and experimental arms. So in Dusty's case as an example, he rocks the FAMAS because he just likes it better and has some bit of history with it from his pre-Joe days.

CapBritain, thanks for the mention of the STANAG magazine. As a non gun expert, I had never heard of it. I just looked it up, and it would solve a lot of problems. It is a very versatile unit, but it seems to have some issues. Do you know if they have improved the design in the last 10 years? The articles I read were that old.

No idea, some more recent rifles don't use it, so I doubt it.

BTW: Snake Eyes and Steeler's original weapons were a mini-Uzi (not to be confused with a Mac 10).

M16/M4/AR mags on the non standard military issue/civilian/law enforcement side have greatly improved since the standard aluminum STANAG mag though starting with I think the PMAG made by Magpul which offer greater durability in construction, and a small host of creature comforts. I don't believe they fit into all mag wells of other firearms that take STANAG magazines though. This being said, nowadays any unit of a high pedigree regardless of nation would likely be using an M4 from their inventories with only personal variations. Even if that nation introduced and issues their own "national" system for standard/conventional forces. Sounds totally boring for a fiction, but that's how it is in reality. |

Thanks for the update. I don't really mind every one having a standard weapon. The gun doesn't make the character, it sometimes limits the character. Take Snake Eyes, if you give him a shotgun, guys start to complain that thats not true to his character. Not, Wild Bill without his Colts, doesn't look right, but it doesn't change what he is.
Now, another question. When it comes to hand guns, do all .45 mags fit no matter the type or manufacturer? Same with 9mm, etc.? |

Do you mean if all .45 cal magazines fit .45 cal handguns? No, although a mag is designed for a specific caliber, they are also designated for specific firearms (in most cases). So for example a magazine for a .45 cal Glock 21 will not work in a .45 cal 1911 nor vice versa. However, a magazine designed for a 9mm Glock 17 will fit inside a 9mm Glock 19 because the base proportions of that mag were designed for those models. Hope that clears things up.

Didn't see it until just recently, but Retro Gung-Ho has the M17 (Sig Sauer P320), unusual that the 80's retro figure has something so recent but the mold is cool
