If Hasbro lost the Star Wars license, would they go all in on G.I. Joe?

That would be incredible. Star Wars is still about 30-40 percent of my collection, but I could go without, at least until a new movie hit theaters. But if Joe went all-in with the Retro line, I'd have to free up some serious space. Getting back into MOTU with this Origins line is killing me already...

Nope, GI JOE doesn't carry the weight that Star Wars does. Back during the Cold War when military support was at an all time high, that is part of what helped make GI JOE great. Kids liked the toys, patriotic parents loved that kids liked the toys. Times are way different now.
Transformers would be the main focus if they lost Star Wars, IMO.

Hasbro is always going to have interest in and make attempts to expand their "in house" brands whenever they get a chance. The problem is that it's not as simple as just "make more stuff." There has to be an audience/market for it that's willing to buy what you're selling. Right now, GI Joe has an audience problem. Specifically a lack-of one.
Transformers and NERF would probably be the biggest benefactors if Hasbro lost Star Wars. Plus Marvel would likely still be going strong. Doesn't mean they wouldn't try to boost GI Joe, but like I said...they can throw any amount of money at marketing the franchise and it's no guarantee it's going to sell at the retail end. |

I just wish they'd bring back Marvel Universe figures, loved the card artwork on those. Legends are just so boring to look at, but I still buy quite a few of them.

Does it matter what license they do or don't have? If they buy shelf space for a ROM reboot and don't stock it it's the.same as empty shelf space for Star Wars, GI Joe, Transformers or pet rocks. It's still empty space.
