Started with the 82 and stopped in 89. Never cared for the movies cartoons or any of the comics besides just getting my GI Joe fix. Very sill and campy.
the OG issues from Marvel were my absolute favorites. Deep dark and pretty violent . The softer Joe got the more I pulled away. My head cannon is pretty dark personally. |

Ill be 47 in March, and I have been there since the start in 82, however, my first Joe toy was the Adventure Team Mobile Support Vehicle a neighbor gave me since I had alot of the 12" Star Wars figures.

You won't find many people here into GI JOE before 1980's GI JOE.
12" Boomer GI JOE fans and 3 3/4" fans actually hate each other. Well, an exaggeration, most of the 12" fans never liked 3 3/4", the Collectors Conventions were 12" centric until 2002 or 2003. Old men and their dollies. NOW THEY DYING OFF. Who's gonna buy your doll collection now? It don't mean squat to GEN X. It'll gather dust in antique malls next to old train sets. I'm just kidding around. OR AM I? |

Man I'm not even going to go hard into the 12in stuff I had. My cousin had all the 90s joes 12i ( obviously you had the earlier stuff). Those ratchet joints under rubber were sweet. Made an erector set wheel chair for Duke after his knees gave out.

Even the cheap 12in joes were like $15? |

I actually thought he looked cooler without his helmet, than with it. Your boy Overlord (https://www.3djoes.com/overlord.html) came with the Dictator (https://www.yojoe.com/vehicles/90/dictator/) Just sharing because I thought it might be cool for you to see them again. |

The first Joe comic I bought on the stand was #111 when I was 8, almost 9. That was the issue where CC gave the SAW Viper strippers to dance with for mowing down a bunch of Joes, so yeah, darker than the cartoons. I had gotten #69 in a pack of Marvel comics from my aunt at some point before that. Then I got #117 on the stand and every one after until the end of the initial run. The comic became my canon. Around 92 I got a bunch of the old issues collected in these little digest editions, and bought as many back issues as I could from my local comic shops.

Started in '82 when I was nine and my father got me the VAMP w/ straight-arm Clutch for Christmas. Never looked back. Been collecting and enjoying Joe since then, despite quite a few parental purges (mother is anti-war/weapons) along the way.
