I never minded the characters with sports inspired uniforms, like Bazooka or even Hardball. But, I never cared for Capt. Grid Iron. His weapons and uniform were pretty ridiculous. Not a fan, sorry to those who like him.

Gridiron is one of my favorites. The first Joe I remember buying was Ambush while my older brother got Gridiron. I vividly remember that first adventure across the living room couch -- a tent was pitched, football grenades were chucked, and a good time was had by all.

I suppose I came into Joe in the biggest outlier year in the ARAH line. Gridiron was the leader of the team in 1990 so he is for me what Hawk or Duke are for most. In fact I am pretty sure we had Gridiron before I even knew about Hawk or Duke.

Nowadays, Joe for me is about remembering and enjoying that pre-critical attitude I had back then, before I realized how ridiculous he or (let's be honest) many other Joes are. I'll go long for Gridiron any day!
