I am not sure patriotism is the difference between us and kids today. I think it is more of a "testosterone" or "adventure" difference. My high school class of 50 had 10 students join the service 9 guys 1 girl. We didn't really talk about patriotism but rather things like pay and benefits, or more often, the job itself and how cool it sounded. We talked about the travel and the "exciting" sounding things. My daughter's class of 100 had 2 kids join the service, both girls, and both daughters of career servicemen. I honestly think if someone walked into her class and said "any of you that want to can go to a service academy or ROTC" I think we wouldn't have had any more takers than the two we got.
I know I sound like a grumpy old man, but this is just my observation that kids, especially boys, seem to have the masculinity and adventure beat out of them. I think this is the predictable result of the last 80 years of of public schools. Good point. Retention is tough for the military today. But for a Joe show or even cartoon, why tread the same path everyone else is doing with woke or overly kid-friendly or whatever. I don't get why media companies are like lemmings all looking at the same 'new coke' data and making the same product with different labels. Sure, I guess the numbers don't back it up but a macho, 80s-ish cartoon done today will cater to some parents tired of everything else being pushed. You just got to make sure the budget matches it. They shouldn't run from joe but double down.

Yeah, but they're having a Lady Jaye show premiere on Amazon Prime. I'm not sure that'll do the brand any favors.

I think a few things could revitalize the brand.
1. A streaming service cartoon that keeps that captures audiences at the premiere. Maybe have the same writing team as Resolute. 2. A feature film made by someone who cares about the material and is a name that could be marketed. No one knows Robert Schwentke, Stephen Sommers, and John Cho nor do I get the impression they cared about the material. 3. A Triple-A video game that is like War For Cybertron that's fun to play and will draw the average gamer. Operation Blackout was too niche and only appealed to Joe fans. I think the biggest problem is that the people working on Joe titles in the mediums kids pay attention to either don't care about the material (film) or only appeal to people who are already fans (gaming) or just have nothing to offer currently (TV). |

Isn't Hasbro already making available for free ARAH and Sigma 6 on Youtube? Maybe Renegades too. Kiddies not watching there?
I'd like a continuation of ARAH, not DiC. It had the right mix of serious adventure and limited goofball stuff. |

You're talking about the Marvel Productions and Sunbow cartoon? Yeah, I'd like to see a revitalization of it. |

Over 24 years ago the Joe team was portrayed as the antagonists. No decent movie or TV show since then has broken that perception.

I've decided it's not my concern if upcoming generations have no interest in GIJoe, it only has to endure during my lifetime because I want it to.
