Well man, I actually don't really have one, which is one of the things I love about Hisstank- and that's tempered with a small amount of envy for those that are geared that way. I've always been one to base my preferences for a character around aesthetic and MO, little more.
I've drawn and painted nearly my entire life, so I can create a cool looking character, and feel confident that the character is reasonably well designed... but the minute I actually have create a bit of backstory, or even just to name said character, well, that's just not my forte. When it comes down to my own G.I.Joe lore, it's literally along the lines of "so one day, the Joes and Cobras were punching and shooting at one another..."

I've tried to do the "worldbuilding" thing and it just doesn't interest me. I'm more interested in bringing pre-existing things to life. I know some folks love this sort of thing, but I don't really nerd out about some little tidbit from a filecard showing up in a comic unless it actually results in a character flaw or some piece of dialog that adds depth. I'm talking stuff like the color of someone's boots or what side the scar is on Xamot's cheek (probably wrong, I never actually bothered to learn which is which.) |

Kinda a weird thing thinking about this.
I can only recall an awkward moment in our young playing days, we went to this neighborhood kids house and me and some other kids brought over our GI Joe toys and dumped them all on that dudes carpet.Nothing unusual here but this is when we would "draft" toys- picking guys first and then vehicles afterwards to play with. 1 medium vehicle would = 2 small vehicles (ex- cobra watermoccasin = 1 claw and 1 fang) to even things out after we all picked up stuff. Anyway what was awkward was this one time, I wind up picking Stalker, Doc, Roadblock and Alpine for my Joe team. |

So, this is purely in my mind with no real world evidence, but I always had an issue with Falcon's drug addiction in the cartoon.
So, I structured a plot line wherein the events of the 87 movie were somewhat reconciled with that event. After his creation, Serpentor starts having vague memories of Cobra LA, as referenced in the movie. Mindbender, not wanting to admit this is simply a side effect of the fucked genetic jambalaya he created, starts developing mind expanding drugs for Serpentor in hopes of bringing these hazy dreams into focus. And it works- so essentially the events of the 87 movie are a drug induced fever dream of Serpentor. As such, Mindbender and Serpentor become obsessed with finding it. Falcon becomes Mindbender's focal point, as to that point, no such Joe as known to Cobra. Upon finding that the joe team had indeed recruited a soldier codename Falcon, it only served to fuel the belief that this dream had to be real- as Serpentor would not have known of Falcon's existence at that time. After Serpentor's death, Mindbender carried on, but needed a new subject to continue his research in the form of recording and evaluating the Cobra LA dreams in the brainwave scanner. As such, mindbender employs the Headhunters to flood his hallucinogenic onto the streets, hoping new candidates will reveal themselves. Finding that the drugs aren't having the hallucinogenic effect on others, Mindbender shifts his focus. Believing Falcon to be the key, given his unexplained presence in Serpentor's dreams, Mindbender has Falcon abducted and forces the drugs on him. This is also aided by the fact that as a kid, I thought unmasked Serpentor and Falcon looked the same, so at some point I would have established a genetic connection between them. But Kindle Worlds went tits up and I never finished the story.

Yeah this must have been when they brought DEF into the cartoon. I only vaguely remember those episodes, they were too much propaganda for me to deal with even in 1991.

Yeah, drug addict Falcon was DiC era. It's a wild episode, because I generally thought the DiC episodes were even more cheesy and kiddish than the Sunbow ones, but at the end of the episode they have Headman OVERDOSE AND DIE from his own drug. See, it's ok to show a somewhat horrific death here, 'cuz DRUGS BAD.

As a kid, I always thought Clutch, Rock N Roll, and Breaker were the Original 12" Adventure Team members since they looked alike.

So, I had this weird head canon as a kid that Buzzer and Ripper were supposed to be like evil, mirror dimension versions of Duke and Breaker. I don't know why. Looking back, I can kinda see it with Buzzer and Duke. But hey, I was 4 or 5 at the time, so cut me come slack.
