I'm not suggesting that one scale is superior over another. It seemed dopey to me to have a 50th anniversary line, and don't do a thing for the 1964-1968 line of figures and accessories. You know, the incarnation from 50 years prior, the whole reason for the 50th anniversary, the reason Hasbro is as big a toy mogul as they are.

I like the idea of greenshirts as support and security. Go back in the early issues and you'll see that Hama used them way before Sunbow. Check the background art ,I think issue 3, they're running the controls. I would assume that a lot of the crew at Macquarie AFB were greenshirts as well.
I would be happy with a 5 poa figure as an companion in a deluxe pack. Say Stalker with a greenshirt radio guy. |

But that did start Hasbro's return to 12"...did you miss the 90's and early 2000's? A 12" boom occurred, Toys R Us used to have gobs of 12" from Hasbro and 21st Century Toys. It was successful enough for a time with aging 12" fans and a general audiences. Remember Soldiers of the World, mostly at Target, cheapy 12" historical figures. Lanard had Ultra Corps and World Peacekeeper had and still does, I think, their 12 inchers. GI JOE's 2002 relaunch had 12" ARAH characters released every year until the 4 inch line itself ended and went DTC. It's almost all since gone back to niche smaller companies, of course. Hasbro last real 12" attempt (non shampoo bottle toys) was a decade ago or more. The market isn't there and the costs too high to make probably. Last edited by Sean_C; 01-20-2022 at 04:21 PM.. |

I completely agree with you on this point. After all, they had just finished celebrating the 30th anniversary of ARAH, before pivoting a year or two later into 50th. 50th really could have been a multi-scale launch that actually celebrated the full 50 years of GI Joe. Instead, it was a few good ideas jumbled up with a bunch of mostly bad repaints from the ME run.

Original Sunbow green shirts (FD Joes) are awesome and I would love a really well detailed 80's inspired Classified figure and an 80's inspired O-Ring 5 pack!
This would be perfect to add to the collection.. PS: O-Ring 5 packs of Cobra Troopers, Vipers and the Crimson Guard would be awesome too! |
