Also, except for Storm Shadow, none of the ninja are Asian! And, it only takes 3 years of training to become a Master! Only Luke Skywalker becoming a "Master Jedi" took less time... SMH!

My strategy is to avoid Hama's long story-arcs. That's where the weakness of his spitball method of storytelling comes to light.

Isn't that every comic ever after 1990 though?

Here comes the rant.

I complain pretty often about the serial format of both comics and TV shows that everyone seems to want now. It's made comics as a whole indigestible except to a minority with a good memory for eclectic detail, and TV shows don't have opportunities to focus on single characters without it having long-term implications on the "overall plot"

Nobody can pick up anything in the middle anymore without either spending a fortune or binging 2-3 seasons of whatever in the case of TV.

Most of the time that I look at something for entertainment, I'm picking it up or watching it to get my mind off things, not looking for a commitment.

I'm about ready to give up on Book of Boba Fett just because every episode so far has been 'set up' and there's no pay off each episode. Nothing is resolved. You already know about half of what the next episode will be about.

Also, "deep lore". I hate "deep lore".

Rant over.

Glad to see I'm not the only person that thinks Mr. Hama is overhyped.

Guy rubbed me the wrong ways years ago and I've been turned off to him since. Didn't help that they "killed" Snake-Eyes and brought him/her back x2. To be fair, I did like the Dawn Moreno character, I just don't need Snake-Eyes' brain/conscious/whatever inside of her head.

This.

He had something good going but it all went to shit once Snake Eyes anything got involved.

I think the reason Hama irritates me so much is because he's really poor at characterization, and that's the thing I most enjoy about any kind of fiction. I really don't care that much about continuity or recurring elements, but the characterization needs to be spot on all the time.

The idea that IDW employs him when his mindset is, "I'm writing for myself," is ignorant to me. But, that may be what the 'I' in their name actually stands for. The childish-looking artwork doesn't warm me up to the work either. Sometimes it's great, then...not so much. Why pay that kind of price tag for lackluster content from a 73-year-old who's pissed that he couldn't be a ninja when he grew up?

The IDW checks are probably beer money.
