Given the personnel on that team, I'd keep Marauders as a sub-squad* that was used for a very specific assignment - similar to Tiger Force / Wolf Squad, Night Force, and maybe even Sky Patrol. And while they all exist in my joeverse, I don't yet use any of them in the reinstatement era.

*EDIT: Though now that I think about it if you wanted to use Slaughter as the "former Joe" who's now a profiteer I'm pretty into that idea.

My thinking with Ninja Force was that SS never officially "joined" the Joes after leaving Cobra, but he helped them a few times before disappearing again. A few years later he emerged with his own new team (maybe trying to return the Arashikage clan to its former glory?) and - though they helped the Joes on a few missions - they're also seen as a threat that the Joes try to keep tabs on. So rather than 'breaking off' from the Joes, they never really were part of them in the first place.

Similar with Renegades, they're straight-up mercs/contractors led by a former Viper.

Completely disagree. You can remove cheese and still make it fun. A more realistic approach works within reason. Python patrol and tiger force etc are so ridiculous. That is kid marketing. As adults, haven't tastes matured slightly? The Joes can def mature a bit.

Tiger Force looks absolutely absurd to me, but it won over what I'd guess is 50-100 Tankers here, so I can't begin to guesstimate what the response is for those losers ... er, non-Tankers ... who grew up loving the subteams. The '80s went big, the '90s went loud. That doesn't mean they can't be awesome as-is. It's all in the ability of the professionals hired to tell us stories. If the story is engrossing, we'll forget what's printed on Outback's shirt.
