For sure. He was great in the early comics. I got the issue #3 comic pack when I was 10 or 12, and even though his head was a bit small, it was pretty cool to finally get a Col. Hawk.
I hadn't see Battlestar Galactica until a few years ago on MeTV, and "Whoa, it's Cover Girl" was totally my first thought when one of the female characters showed up. Quote:
As far as the heads go, check out Luke's Toybox on Facebook. He makes custom heads for Cover Girl, Lady Jaye and several others, and they are incredible. He's actually made 3 options on Cover Girl: Cartoon, MASS Device and GI Joe the Movie.

Are you saying running into the '90s screaming "Freedom!" was inappropriate? |

I recall owning Scarlett twice. My dad bought one for me while we were at the beach, and I lost my grip as she was "swimming" through the surf. I remember being heartbroken. My dad went back, and got me another, which was not characteristic of how frugal he was. Great memory. I also remember either he or my older brother telling me as I frantically searched the waves, that she was probably halfway to England. Of course, I know that didn't happen, but it's a tradition every year when I go to the beach, I look longingly toward the northeast and tell my kids my Scarlett is somewhere in England today.
Perfect timing. That salt really bleached her hair well. |

You know, now that I really think back, my Dad bought me SNAKE EYES at the beach, meaning I brought Scarlett from home (he still bought a replacement for her while we were there). So for those wondering if Scarlett was cool with the kids, I had her before I had Snake Eyes...

Speaking for myself, though, it was a great time to be a Joe fan kid. New Joes were affordable and readily available, thanks to Joe vs Cobra, VvV & comic packs. Classic Joes & vehicles could still be found for as low as a quarter (For real!) at garage sales & flea markets. The cartoon was being rerun on Carton Network and most of it got released on DVD by Rhino in there somewhere. It was a good time to be a kid. Yep, I think Anne Lockhart was the first character I saw, though I think the dark haired girl wore the Cover Girl uniform occasionally too. Unfortunately, I think Luke's Toybox only operates through Facebook. He'd probably do pretty good sales through Ebay. Last edited by SnowCat; 01-11-2022 at 06:08 PM.. |
