In my 'verse, Scarlett and Destro are a thing. Her makeover would make the Baroness blush.

On the 1986 figure and card art, the shirt isn't torn. It's a design. What you see near her midriff are cloth wrinkles, that's pretty obvious. It lacks any of the 'v' shaped tear-patterns. There's also an obvious hem on the card art. I believe the ME figure's shirt is supposed to be torn, but it's hard to tell with the dimensions. It was also done by a different designer nearly 20 years later. This is probably the best jumping-off point for her theory. It's clear that at least in 1986 the visual designers were both on the same page that the shirt wasn't torn. This is even more obvious if you compare the leg and the shirt cut patterns on both the 1986 figure and filecard. Neither the 1986 figure or card art is a supportive element of this theory. I wasn't here to debate anyone's headcanon, you can do what you want. I was pointing out that the 1986 stuff just doesn't support it. |

Don't take such a simplistic view. It's more nuanced than that.

But then, I also thought that Destro had a yellow undershirt so... ?\_(ツ)_/?

It probably helped that we went to the shopping mall fairly regularly back then and a lot of young women had shirts like that. Torn pants and sweaters were definitely a thing though. I don't think I saw any more of those short midriff shirts on anyone past 1988.

I don't think the 86 figure is ripped... I think its the wavy appearance that gives the fabric the uneven hem line.
But, because of her persona as a punk girl it may have been taken as ripped in other instances or since. I've seen it done both ways in the cartoons.. not sure about the Marvel comics (which are the only comics that matter to me) I do feel the modern figure is meant to have a ripped shirt. that being said, I thought I remember seeing original design sketches for both Zandar and Zarana which proved this one way or the other... I forget, either the shirt and scarf were meant to be different colors and the factory messed up, or the sketches specifically mentioned they were supposed to match Last edited by Dusty777; 01-19-2022 at 04:22 PM.. |

The place where I could see there being a rip is at the top. At the bottom (of the original figure) the different lengths look like they are there to show us the material is being pulled and is kind of folding over itself.
I am no longer a soldier in this war. It's gotten tiresome. Let people believe what they want, including that the largest toy manufacturer in the world should bend to a niche market to give them what they want. I've said my part on more than one occasion and (as I'm sure this comment will be) it has been skipped over and ignored. I'm not hurt about it, and I won't start up new posts to talk about it again and again. Enjoy your campaign to get a Zandar figure and have them acknowledge your head canon in plastic form. Good luck to you in your endeavors. I'm out. |
