As others have said, JoeCon is no longer.
If you want to read about the experience, I will shamelessly plug this (in my opinion) great book about it: https://www.amazon.com/Joy-JoeCon-Bill-Nedrow/dp/B085RRT9Q6 Wedge, did you write that?

I was lucky enough to get some fantastic people, many of whom hang around here, to write some essays that I could collect and lightly edit. I am proud of how it turned out, and I think the authors did a wonderful job of capturing the magic and fun of conventions like JoeCon and JoeFest.

I should try to go to JoeFest with my brother one of these years. Maybe this year. I think it would be fun to see some of the reactions I get in person from some of the people here.
I have gone to two JoeCons when they came to Disney World. I have also been to one SDCC and one Star Wars Celebration. I think the only thing that I have not gone too yet that I've wanted to check out is the MOTU Power-Con. I will NOT go back to SDCC or Star Wars Celebration. Absolutely too many people attend, turning it really into LineCon, and it just makes the entire experience suck. They need to offer a VIP ticket where you can skip lines, get guaranteed seats for panels, and get your hands on exclusives. That or limit the people. Star Wars Celebration was the worst how they handled everything. What was so nice about JoeCon, and I assume also JoeFest, is there is a manageable amount of people that attend and you can easily get in, buy what you want, and attend panels. At SDCC and Celebration you have to pick and choose right off the bat what you are going to do and what you are going to miss. Then you end up in line all day anyway. I saw no panels at Celebration because I was in line trying to buy just two exclusives. |

Cool, I added it to my Amazon list, and I'll toss it in my cart on my next order (for free shipping).

I doubt there'll be much difference, at least in comparison to recent years. I expected Toylanta was going to be a radically different experience with all the Covid business, but nope. Just as crowded as ever. Only difference was that people were wearing masks. Sometimes.
An absolutely essential con strategy I learned a few years back: bring beer. You'd be surprised what a dealer will give you if you've got a cold beer to offer. |

There's def a benefit to enjoying some beers with folks that weekend. But even if you live a sober life... lobby hangs are essential. The community shenanigans are almost as fun as the toys.... and building relationships with vendors doesn't hurt either. lol
