Zarana being related to Zartan will not change. Snake Eyes being a ninja/commando will not change. There are certain constants. I hope to see Zarana & Zandar as a pair of twins one of those constants.
Returning to my break.

At the present moment, nothing about G.I. Joe (including its very existence) is assured moving forward. And while Brian Goldner is rightfully celebrated for expanding/growing the company (as both an entertainment leader/engine of social change), I'm fairly certain whomever Hasbro happens to hire* will honour his legacy by dramatically expediting efforts to eliminate all the tired tropes of the past.
Now, if we are treating the characters as if they are actual people** ... Zarana may no longer even wish to be associated with either of her wanker siblings. For example, perhaps she's sick of Zartan constantly sending her clips of Rand Paul. Or Zandar refusing to work, and always asking to borrow money. * https://www.theatlantic.com/business...he-top/380295/ ** Like we often seem to be doing for some reason.

Zartan sending her clips of Rand Paul? LOL. Imagining that actually made me laugh.

"But..Commander, you want ME to try and slip through enemy lines, impersonate a high ranking officer, steal the plans and blow up the base? I'm just a ^$%# TANK mechanic! Why don't you have ZANDAR do that? "This Zando or Zinder, or whatever his name is, is obviously NOT HERE, and you are disobeying a direct order, trooper!" "Fine.. Whatever.." the mechanic stomps off in a huff, as Zandar, who is sitting on the hood of the nearby HISS tank bounces a beer can off the back of his helmet..

What do you consider "tired tropes of the past"?

Pretty much. Though, then again, it's not how I define "tired tropes of the past" that matters (I don't run Hasbro). It is the next CEO's take that should be of greatest concern to you. But you don't have to take my word for it ...

Oh, and before anyone/everyone says, "I/we don't read The Washington Post and Bloomberg!" Yeah, but I'll bet the new CEO does. Now, returning to the original topic ... sadly, when dressing Zartan, I doubt the design team gave the slightest thought to (or were even aware of) the scarf's significance.

Yeah I don’t think they thought about where Zartans scarf came from ether. It’s just a design thing
