Is everything I was fighting for now gone? Is it still achievable with Zartan-with-a-scarf that matches the Zarana-that-matches-Zartan? :(
Either Hasbro had no idea a fan was trying to save these things for Zarana and Zandar officially, which makes then out of touch, or they knew and stomped all over it anyway, which makes them very mean. I also don't feel the scarf is solely a Zandar trademark to the point that seeing it on Zartan means it no longer belongs to Zandar. Zartan has had a ton of different looks over the years. Some nearly identical to his classic RAH look, and some so out there it looked like a different character all together. As far as lore is concerned, if it has been officially made canon by Hasbro, then it should carry on long after the last Zandar figure is made. If a bunch of fans came up with it, and there has been no official confirmation of it, then it can carry on for those fans for as long as they collectively want to believe it, or until Hasbro comes out with an official canon regarding the situation that either confirms or contradicts it. |

The scarf? Why doesn't Hasbro take Zartan's hood and black face markings, put them on Zandar, and never make a Zartan or refer to him again.

So basically, Zandar's traits were used to give Zartan and Zarana a boost they didn't even need, because apparently Zandar's traits were cool and popularity boosting but not good enough for Zandar.

Does Zander have the market cornered on scarves? If he was cool and popularity boosting, more people would want a figure. I’m not opposed to one but there are 100’s of characters that I think would come first. You take this stuff very personally and it’s really not healthy. I know you’ve got some health issues going on but an unhealthy obsession like this can have adverse physical affects as well. Might do you some good to step back and relax. These are toys, your life has way more meaning than whether or not these characters are considered twins or if a scarf has some weird significance.

By normal standards, such focus and dedication is seen as unhealthy. The lives of people so disabled they cannot live independently aren't normal, nor are they conducive to a healthy mental state, and finding purpose to their lives, bo matter what that purpose is, gives them hope.
This is me. With that in mind, we've all felt more than a little invested in certain aspects of our hobby/fandom/whatever and we all need a space to discuss/chat/vent/rant/rave. This is why these forums are here.

I don't think Zandar is despised. I mean I've owned at least two versions of him over the years. I'd reserve "despised" for some of the neon painted fellows that followed him, or maybe Raptor, who has some fans for being off the wall but is otherwise extremely silly (and who also IMO looked way cooler in the comics than in action figure form).
But Zandar's just not popular with much of the fandom, even less so outside his membership in the Dreadnoks sub-grouping. He's just kinda there, like a lot of Joe characters. If the line continues long enough, they'll get around to him. If not...maybe next go-round. |

Perhaps the scarf and shirt originally came from another shirt or dress worn by their mother. The souvenirs remind them of her.
My real consternation comes from the family's color changing abilities and identical shoulder pads. What's the story on that? |
