The scarf has been brought up numerous times but in the story was it that big of deal besides it being given to him or whatever? Like did he ever hold it, close his eyes, and think about his sister? Was the bond even something that was played upon by the characters or just mentioned in the file cards to build up the story?

Only thing I remember him really showing up in was as a member of COIL in the Devil's Due GI Joe comics (where I think he might have then been killed off? I don't recall...). Last edited by Jmacq1; 10-11-2021 at 11:44 AM.. |

How is creating a non-matching, non-scarved, non-twin Zandar being respectful to the original source and the fans? Or creating none at all? :(

I can honestly say this is stuff I never thought about before. So thanks for bringing this lore/backstory to my attention. That said, I wouldn't worry too much about Zartan having a scarf. If there's one thing we've learned by now, it's that Hasbro changes things constantly and nothing is permanent. Zandar could easily show up this year looking exactly like the 80s toy.

Even when I was younger and even now when I write them. I've always thought of Zandar's"connection" with his sister to either be one of two things. Either it's the "twin connection",I.E. separation anxiety issue he had as a child so to help combat that his sis who was the first one out, therefore " older"sis gave him a piece of her clothing to help ease his anxieties about being left behind. You could leave it there OR go the route of he has a fixation on her to the point of it being sexual either actually or just in his head. So like most ppl with a sexual attraction, they like to have something of their "loved" one. So depends on where you want to take it. Is he the one with lost puppy separation anxiety so you feel bad for him to be that emotionally crippled or is it the gross pervy way that him and his twin like to get it on and have a ewwwwwww relationship

If that is the case at least he didn't steal her under garments.

Where is it stated that Zartan's new scarf came from Zaranna. Maybe it was just another accessory Hasbro added and has nothing to do with the twins. Keep your head up Dreadnok Twins, maybe all is not lost for your wishlist version of the twins.

I kid... Obviously, this is an important issue for you. The thing is, even if Zandar never shows up in Classified or other iterations of G.I.Joe, the original figures still exist. They're not being erased from history. The vintage G.I.Joe line had so many characters it's inevitable that some would fall into obscurity. I'm sure that somewhere out there, some kid in the 1980s/'90s grew super-attached to Skidmark as his favorite figure. Or Armadillo, or Rumbler, or Rapid Fire, etc. Maybe it was the first G.I.Joe toy they ever got. Maybe it was given to them by a cherished relative who has since passed away. Maybe something about the figure or the character really spoke to them for some esoteric reason no one else will ever understand. You can still have that bond even if the character doesn't carry over to the next generation of product. |
