Not to minimize your experiences, but you and your family would be data points. I can show you a study saying masks have no impact, and without a doubt, you can show me one that says they do. In most cases, these studies are correlational in nature. The measure transmission rates, hospitalizations, cases etc before and after a mask mandate. Regardless of results-masks work or don't work-these studies are flawed in that it is very difficult to eliminate other variables. People like me get paid good money to try some mathematical sorcery to account for these variables, but in the end, a small change in data can significantly change the results.
I spent a lot of time in Asia about 25 years or so ago. I had assumed the masks were more for the pollution, and many materials will filter out particulates like smoke, soot or dust. Obviously, surgeons wear masks, so they don't hawk a loogy into a chest cavity by mistake, but I read one interview where the surgeon said the masks are more to make people feel comfortable, and to keep any fluids out of their mouths and nose. Someone mentioned restaurants. Here at work, we have to wear masks in the chow hall. Students have a lunch formation, outside, so no masks. When they enter, they put them on, and at the table, they take them off. So masked for about 1 minute of the 35 minute lunch period. Like any job, you pick your battles, so I have let this one go, as there were others more pressing. This is the kind of stupidity I see all over the place. If people want to wear masks because they think they help-and of course, N95 masks fit tested and using good protocols will protect you-then wear them. the made in china not for medical use masks I get given at work, not to mention the plethora of various cloth types, seem more like a panacea. And you apparently missed all the news footage of the Japanese, Chinese, South Koreans and etc donning masks during bird flu, SARS and etc over the past few decades. I don't even know why this is a debate. Masks work for obvious reasons.

See, you're all overthinking it. Mask are not about protection in the filter/gasmask sense, but about literally containing/minimizing your own personal spread. Masks help keep you from broadcasting your respiratory junk into the air and onto others in close proximity, and to keep the respiratory shit from people in close proximity from getting easy access to your face-holes. That's why they recommend them when people are in close proximity in buildings.

I don't even know why this is a debate. Masks work for obvious reasons. We also had a very minimal flu season last year and the leading reason is masking and social distancing. I typically get a summer cold and I did not in 2020 or 2021. I might keep this whole mask/6 foot/no shaking hands thing up if we ever get through this crap. Helps with more than just Covid. |

I’m just gonna come out and say it: I don’t care if female ejaculation is mostly urine. Bring it on. The more the better. In the words of Frank Drebin: I love it! Last edited by PFC Hudson; 09-18-2021 at 06:48 PM.. |
