It was pretty good. My kid had a BLT without the L & T. I had a Baja wrap, Southwest Chicken kinda thing. Definitely better then hitting a McDonalds drive thru. Nice little restaurant not 5 star or anything but good sandwiches, wraps and paninis.
Good enough for Chuck and his family, good enough for me and mine. |

That is really cool man. Those were actually U.S. Capitol Police guys and not U.S. Secret Service. But they are doing a very similar job that you saw there. Notice any blacked out Chevy Suburbans in the parking lot?

What you didn't notice was Owen hiding in the bushes across the parking lot watching you eat with a giant outdated periscope thing-a-ma-bob. I read somewhere he does that to research ideas for his novels. Or I made it up. I can't remember.
The truth is he never actually watches anyone through it, he just sits there and tries to figure out how he is supposed to hold it properly until they've left.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not faulting Owen. I don't know single person who ever understood how to make the figure hold that accessory correctly either.

Imagine as a kid being Owen. You get a Joe named after you and it’s dude who just sits there and watches things.

Thanks for clarifying. I knew Secret Service typically only handle Presidents, ex-Presidents, vices and their families but not all the rank and file of Congress. But I mistakenly thought they also handled some of the high value players as well.
But now I know....and knowing is half the battle. https://www.secretservice.gov/protection/leaders That list is missing a few people. They need to add the Treasury Secretary, DHS Secretary, and National Security Advisor. There are probably a few other random people too that I have forgotten. Also, the President at any time can be like, "Hey protect that guy," and they will. Pretty much every Federal Government agency either has their own police force with police officers or investigative agency with investigators. Those guys also then do protective duty with their own agencies. For example, HHS has 1811-Criminal Investigators (also called Special Agents) who investigate healthcare fraud mostly. But they also protect the Secretary of Health, their boss. The Secret Service is the most famous for protection work and it's one of their main duties. Also, the Diplomatic Security Service, or DSS, does maybe even more protective work than the SS. A very interesting agency that does a lot of different things, especially overseas, and in war zones. You just never hear about them. Their big protectee is the Secretary of State. The U.S. Marshals Service is another agency that does a lot of protective work. One thing they do is WITSEC, or witness protection. Also, outside of Washington they protect the Supreme Court Justices. Inside DC Supreme Court Justices are protected by the Supreme Court Police. Which are very similar to the guys just across the street at the Capitol. The Capitol Police and Supreme Court Police are different though from the other agencies I mentioned because they are classified as 083-Police Officers. Which is a lesser position and pay than the 1811 positions. I always thought I would be kind of pissed doing the same job as the Secret Service or DSS but getting paid less. At the Capitol Police you start out as a uniform police officer and later in your career you can put in for dignitary protection. From what I have seen it is almost like applying for a new job all over again. There might be a job title change but I am pretty sure they remain 083s and don't get 1811 status. I could be wrong though. I am not exactly sure either who all they actually protect. Obviously the leadership. Probably any Congressperson who has threats. Many times I've noticed random less known Congresspeople using local police for security when out and about. The people on these security details at other agencies like I mentioned above get their own agency's' training but also go through a course taught by the Secret Service. The Secret Service also trains many other countries protective squads too. During big events like during campaign years the Secret Service will pull Agents from other agencies to help out. Many times from ICE's HSI. Generals in the military also get their own security details. For example Army CID. Which I believe Chuckles was a member of. Internationally, Scotland Yard protects the royal family. And the Swiss Guard protect the Pope. But if those people visit the United States the Secret Service protects them. The Queen would get Secret Service protection because she is the head of state but other royals would get DSS protection. I believe it is based on international law and treaties, most countries rely on the host country to protect them when they visit. EXCEPT US. The Secret Service goes everywhere with our protectees. "We always protect our own." And of course state governors are usually protected by detectives from their state police. And mayors by detectives from their cities police force.
