No disrespect to the new lines of Joes .While most of them are pleasant to the eye(Crimson guards, Snake Eyes, Cobra commander, etc)there are a few I can live without. I'm a die hard '80s collector and don't envision a switch at all. There seems to be less and less of us ( at least on here). I figure we'd have more originals than the number suggested. I see thread about 25th anniversary on here in the ratio of 1,000:1 :-) I follow this board on a regular basis and I'm lucky to find '80s thread on any given night. Where have all the hobbyist like myself go? I know we have a huge followings and we need to demonstrate our strength in number.

There is less enthusiasm due to everything from that line is out. There really isn't much discussion other than parts trading and polls on which XXXXXX you liked better. I don't know what sort of addition to the conversation I could add other than "I really like the old stuff that I have" It has been played out for the most part.
Not to say that you can't have great discussions revolving around it. It is just that the excitement for the time being is revolving around the new stuff showing up (or has shown up in the last couple of years) |

if i still had my original stuff i think i'd be into both lines - but my younger brother (by 12 years) got ahold of them while i was in the military and thrashed a lot of them. i had taken care of everything, but...
i like the new line. i think it's more custom-friendly (except for those fused torsos), and definitely more detailed. plus, they're more articulated. i personally find them more appealing. but i loved the original style card art we had before the ROC line came out. as a side note, i was at target today, and there were these three little boys (about 6 years old) who were in the toy aisle with me, and there were freakin' psyched over the transformers and g.i. joe stuff out. wish is always a treat to see. |

They were all converted by the 25th figures
I too like my 80's collection but I have so many of them that there isn't much else to collect or talk about concerning those toys (That's why I started collecting the choose your own fate books and other 80's items ) |

I concur with the assessment the older line is limited due to halted production. With that said, surely there must be more of us than I could find here. I understand the cost factor which can dampen one's enthusiasm for sure. But one must look at it this way "it's an investment" as prices for vintage Joes kept going upward. As you can see a USS Flag is going for 18K on ebay. On a side note, I really like the new CG. The price and articulate design are quite attractive.

I like Shogi converted all of my original joes into 25th era.
But I still like Inhumanoids and I collect the M.A.S.K. masks for customs. |
