It would be nice to have all of the Action Force teams and Red Shadows in factory paint, but those were never that popular with most fans. I remember a lot of people grumbled when an AF figure was in an FSS. I miss the club a little, but I miss the POC/Ren/Ret/30th/50th molds even more. Maybe someday Hasbro will reverse engineer some tooling from the POC figures and complete the CV army builders.

Getting “new” carded figures was cool, but so much of how the Club operated and treated its membership I found repugnant. This theme has been more and more invasive in customer service recently, but the Club personified the “we’re doing you a favor by selling you a $50 action figure” mentality. And I think that’s sweet baby bullshit.

Their customer service sucked and they did some half assed figures. But the good stuff they did was really good. Yes, I miss them. Many of my favorite modern era figures are the ones they did. Sometimes I regret selling most of my modern era Joes, but the remaining few I have are mostly Club figures. The 2014 Con Set and the Cesspool FSS figures are still some of my favorites. They did characters Hasbro never would’ve gotten to. I also miss the thrill of the yearly member, fss, and con set figures speculation. The Joe community has definitely dwindled since they were shut down. Like them or not, they served up some good product lineups in some otherwise lean years. Hasbro should’ve let them continue or replaced them with something similar. That Hascon garbage sucked.

I don’t. I felt like the Club was offering too little value for too high a price. Plus, there was the Tanks debacle and I also seem to remember a credit card hack.

I miss the FSS too, but I agree it was getting a little stale. Their budget for new tooling dwindled and dwindled, which left us with a Final 12 figures with no new sculpts. Yes, I wanted them to release all of the CV figures, but not too many people would want to pay $35 per CV Tele-viper, especially if they wanted to army build them.

I was only able to attend one Joecon (the last) but really wish I was able to go to others. I LOVE the box sets that they would do. It gave us a lot more than the same figures we see released all the time.

I suppose I miss the early days of the club, just like the early days of all this collecting shit. I'd think it was just nostalgia talking (because this is a nostalgia hobby, after all), but it really was fun getting back into toys, talking about them with other nerds, geeking over news drops and seeing the club's convention plans and exclusives. But then everyone started taking themselves too seriously, especially the club.

I miss the Club's products a lot.
The monthly newsletters, con sets, FSS, exclusives... At the end it got tricky because nobody wants to invest in new sculpts when an expiring contract is looming and they pumped out some lesser stuff as a last hurrah but I think they had a few more good con sets in them and the FSS could have continued forever if Hasbro gave them a long enough leash to feel comfortable looking forward. I miss it.

I miss the club! I miss their products and the conventions! I made it to 3 Joecons and wish I could’ve made it to more!
My wallet doesn’t miss the club! My wallet’s glad they called it quits! |
