I've been very interested to see the discussions where people say they should make the most popular characters first and then the least popular characters last. But it seems to me like if they do it that way, sales will drop off so much after they reach a certain point that the line will just die, likely before they get to anyone's favorite obscure characters.
But will fans lose interest if certain popular characters don't appear for a while? What is your take and why?

Spread out the figures, this line could and should last a number of years with various designs to appeal to all the different fan bases. Going with strict chronology would be really boring and leave no surprises.

Hasbro seems to rely on the casting molds, and that's okay. Uniforms should look alike in design. If they added a new character mold (head sculpts, body, clothing, gear) each wave and included 5-6 new figures based on their library of molds, then we'd see a greater variety depending on which character builds worked based on the supply. Then it becomes a question of how frequently they release new waves of figures.

I see no evidence nor have any reason to believe Hasbro is going to veer away from the "Core Character" model for Classified and given how small the waves tend to be that's not likely to change.
So it won't be long before we start getting alternate Dukes and we've already got two alternate Snake-Eyes and (oddly) two alternate Roadblocks (even if I use the Cobra Island one as "Heavy Duty"). So yeah, it'll basically be done by popularity and you can look at the 25th and POC as far as how you can expect things to go. They will sprinkle in some of the more obscure and niche characters where they're able, but there's every likelihood that just like the modern era 3.75" the line will peter out long before all the ARAH characters that had 3.75" figures "back in the day" manage to get 6" figures (and this time there's no Club to fill in most of the gaps). |
