I'm not the one who brought up the convention attendees (as being representative of anything). It was others who wrote that. I was simply taking them at their word.
Yes. Which is why I said, "needs a complete makeover. Beginning with changing the name ..." as opposed to "Beginning and ending with changing the name ..." The name is extremely problematic, though. (Particularly for parents.) |

Changing the name to International Hero is dumb and just sounds like your doing it to be politically correct which in all honesty I'm tired of seeing and hearing. Just take out that part from the title. Kids don't care about gi joe anymore because they have tablets and xboxes. Unless the cartoon looks like it was drawn by a bunch of dudes (and for mud wasp..women) on acid and has no story whatsoever I don't think kids are gonna give a damn. GI Joe as a brand is hanging on by a thread and really has nothing going for it but old school fans. TF is still around cause a car transforming is cool and a bunch of kids love fast cards and robots. The whole soldier, war, and terrorist thing has been pushed on generations for so long that people are getting tired of it.

Same with Fss 5.0 Jane, FSS 6.0 Dojo, Retaliation Red Ninjas, and Hiya Colonial Marine Figures Last edited by ShadowNinja; 08-22-2021 at 12:08 PM.. |

Anyway, I became a Joe fan as a kid in the late 90s, early 2000s. Sunbow cartoon was being rerun on cable TV, Joe toys were in stores, the original toys were still available at flea markets and garage sales. It was actually a pretty good time to be a kid who was a fan of GI Joe. All the extra gear that came with VVV-era figures came in handy for all the flea market figures who didn't have their gear. And I know the comic 3 packs were disappointing as adults, but as a kid, the were actually pretty great. They still weren't perfect, but 3 figures, a bunch of gear and a comic for 10 bucks was a major bargain as a kid. |

Sometimes I feel like I'm a rookie among vets, because I am.
I'm 21, never grew up with the Joe franchise, but started getting interested around 2016. Bought a few 25th and 50th figures off eBay and watched the old Sunbow cartoon. 2018-19 was when I really pursued my collection, copped several ROC and more 50th figures. Trying to keep up with Classified and snagging a few Retro figs where I can. Wish I was into it when the line was still strong. But aside from the toys, I've watched Resolute, Renegades, ROC and Retaliation, and have recently been reading the comics (OG Marvel and IDW). I am black, but I don't feel it matters. I've grown to love the franchise, despite my limited exposure to it. |
