I prefer the comic, many of the military aspects were really pretty realistic,to the point that it is a point of reference veterans of a well, certain age. A buddy who was in the Navy and I were talking a few months ago and we were talking about uniforms and he said he had the old style, "you know, like Shipwreck"
Also, I was involved in a study in the USMC where we were looking at how MOS impacts promotions and we kept talking about primary and secondary MOSs, and finally someone pointed out that "secondary MOS" isn't actually a thing but because we all grew up with GI Joe, we just assumed it was how you referred to, well, secondary MOSs. I did like the cartoon, if nothing else, because it felt like you had to wait so long between issues of the comic book, the cartoon was a nice filler. Plus, always cool to see the animation. |

Definitely the cartoon. When I think of Duke, Shipwreck, Lady J, Destro or Cobra Commander it is the cartoon voices I hear in my mind. They were sometimes silly but fun and they showed the vehicles and battles in a cool way. And the PSAs were amazing.

Definitely. As a kid I was pretty obsessed with MASS and Revenge of Cobra, but it tapered off after that (even though we all still love the intro to the animated movie).
But after I read Silent Interlude, the comic and file cards were my Joe canon. 4th-6th grade, the comic was my life, even moreso than the figures, and I loosely followed it through high school, when I got heavily into Daredevil and some other Marvel comics. |

Probably the people he used to characterize most of the Joes.

Instead of Cobra Commander & Starscream it could have been Cobra Commander and Unicron. 🤔

It's a toss up... Larry Hama's writing in the Marvel series was top-notch, but the Sunbow cartoon gave us some hilarious one liners, like Monkeywrench saying, "I think you'll find this highly depressing," as he tosses an explosive at the Joe Team... I crack up every time I hear that line in the toon! Either way, it was great seeing characters from the toy line being given more depth and hearing "their" voices (agreeing with previous posts about the voice actors being the best group for the show).

The cartoon wasn’t great, cool but the stories and stuff wasn’t for anyone over the age of 12 really, funny and worth watching though 100%! But make mine MARVEL! ; D |
