If you want movies to do well, they have to be movies, not TV. There's no reason home viewers can't wait a measly two months to watch movies at home. If movies are made with the intention they may be primarily viewed on TV, things will change. They won't be shot the same way. They'll look more like TV shows. And if more are viewed at home, more theaters will start dying out, just causing a spiral that forces even more people to watch them at home. They won't be able to make as much money, and with budgets cut, the chance for grand, epic movies, and movies that break technological barriers in effects, will reduce. Nobody should let impatience about a 2-month wait damage the industry and artform of movies.

They’ve done that AT LEAST 3 times since end of the original ARAH line. As is, there was HUGE subset of Joefans that never returned when 25th abandoned all links to the original figure line. There is a significant subset of fans driven away when Hasbro introduced the 6” line(s).
Until the 6” line, the new arrivals never reached the same numbers as those lost. 6” is the first time I’ve seen the collector base GROW with a new push in almost 20 years. I’ve seen this same entitlement mentality in Star Wars, and those toys are doing fine (especially now that Disney has produced some compelling media to sell those toys) without a major 3.75” presence. |

It also didn’t help they picked the same weekend the much delayed Olympics 2020 has just started? Last edited by LEEE777; 07-25-2021 at 02:17 PM.. |

July 23rd, 2021. How will this date be viewed in the history of GIJoe?
On the one hand, Classified Series is firing on all cylinders and we are all thrilled with it (for the most part). On the other hand, The Snake Eyes movie is getting universally panned and is looking to be a huge flop - both creatively and for the brand. We've been thru it all before. We have had Rise Of Cobra. We had Issue 155. We had the re-launch RAH with the Devil's Due Series. We had the 25th anniversary and we had 1994. What do you consider some milestones for the brand? Both Highs and Lows? When did GIJoe peak? Will we ever have a chance to rise to those levels again? The ninja thing has always been weak. Ninjas are not part of the military and there really hasn't been a great ninja flick since the 80's which if you go watch now, they are just awful. Ninja Assassin was good in my opinion but not a box office blockbuster by any stretch. I think they need to focus and staying in the source material and approach it like Mission Impossible or 6 Underground but in the military world. Stay close to the uniforms for both the Joes and Cobra and I think creating some new characters that they can introduce would add some new life. Think about the introduction of Falcon in GI Joe the Movie...Or you had the original X-Men but then introduced all the new team members like Wolverine, Storm, Colossus, Nightcrawler, etc. Now those characters are mainstays and then they introduced the New Mutants....They shouldn't be focusing on the same 5 characters, Duke, Scarlett, Snake Eyes, Roadblock, and Flint....blah. The Joes have been popular because of the source material...Stray from that and you are gambling which is what the did with Snake Eyes which was not Snake Eyes....Also, stay away from the wild super corny stuff and ground it in quasi-realism which is what Joes originally were. Most of the old school vehicles were actually real vehicles. Most of the Joes were grounded in real military jobs. The wildest thing about it was Cobra Commander, Zartan and Destro. I always like younger actors because the average age of a SGT in the military is like 23 bu they cast 40yo as SGTs. Destro is Scottish, cast Gerard Butler. I'd also go with some lesser known actors for the Joes. Mike Colter - Roadblock Karen Gillan or Sophie Turner - Scarlett Hailey Bieber - Covergirl Uli Latukefu - Torpedo Charlie Hunnam - Duke Aaron Taylor-Johnson - Flint Joel Kinnamen - Hawk Rain - Storm Shadow Iko Uwais - Quick Kick Doc - Lakeith Stanfield Diego Tinoco - Shipwreck Taron Ergerton - Big Ben |

Lowest point was Super Joe. There's no way those things were competing against Star Wars.
Highest point when the Sunbow series was still cranking out new episodes. Kirk Bozigian made a remark about how Hasbro "Killed the golden goose" when they cancelled the show. I'm happy where we are at the moment. There's something for everyone: 4-inch to 6-inch figures, comics, a new movie, video games, an upcoming animated series, and a variety of licensed products. Stasi, yes, always best to stick with source material or close to or even actually look the same would be nice… messing with source too much always hurts the movie its loosely based on, well most of the time anyway.

Hi's : The OG Sunbow mini series , GI Joe Special Missions (all of them), The intro to the GI Joe sunbow movie. Just that intro was a nice high. The 25th line.
Lows: Turning Cobra Commander into a snake man. Him jobbing out to Serpentor. Ninja Force. Day Glo colors. Oh yeah this horrible Snake Eyes movie. Bigtime Low. |

Over and above figures, I care most about Zandar & Zarana being twins surviving in the lore, into the future of the brand. Without a Zandar figure or other media tie ins (like a character blurb on gijoe.com), they won't be twins anymore.
I thought with the verification from Larry Hama himself, it was set in stone, forever! Now I just don't know what's going on, just that there's no Zandar. (If anyone says nothing is forever, I bet Zarana will always be related to Zartan and her concept always based around this.)

This is amazing! We're getting a ZANDAR figure! ZANDAR featured prominently in the Cobra Commander series! Character development! It's a great time to be a Zandar fan! Thank you, Hasbro!!! Last edited by Dreadnok Twins; 07-26-2021 at 02:32 AM.. |
