if the poop hits the fan or if ww3 kicks off who do you think the joes would call for back up?
to me they both serve a purpose. as general army last resort all heck has broken loose send everyone it would be the green shirts. this would be my ww3 call the troops guys. now if the joes just need some extra help on a hairy mission they would call steel brigade. these guys are the joe's in training. they are not joe's, dont live at the pitt, and dont have a face. they wear helmets so the joe's dont see who they are or even know their names so there is no favortism once it comes to selection time for the joe team. so both serve a purpose in my joeverse. but the green shirts are hardly ever used or seen and if they are they are in the back ground and get nuked first. steel brigade is limited to about 50 dudes and suppliments a joe team as an extra hand/evaluation. what do you all think? |

In the DDP comics, Greenshirts were more heavily armed and were potential Joes. Blackout and Mayday were Greenshirts. Mayday became a Joe. Blackout failed and ended up with Cobra.
I think think Greenshirts and Steel Brigade are a bit like Cobra Trooper and Vipers. They both served the same purpose, but Steel Brigade and Vipers look more at home on a modern battlefield, while Greenshirts and Cobra Trooper look like holdovers from the Vietnam era.

I would use greenshirts to guard the base or for simple ops.

I don't know, but I wish Hasbro made the DDP Greenshirts.

Green shirts as support troops for facilities, defending headquarters and invading battlefields where victory is secure. Steel Brigade for high profile target battlefields envolving dangerous situations that demand the best of the best.

I always saw Steel Brigade as an elite part of the Joe team. If the Joes were one of the more special ops forces of the military, then the Steel Brigade was the special ops of the special ops. If green shirts were potential Joes, then you made your way up to part of the team and then worked your way up to Steel Brigade.
