Seriously though, so many alternate names for GI Joe are soooo generic and bland.

Despite being a WW2 era term for a soldier, GI Joe seemed to work well in the 1980s, when people probably already viewed it as an antiquated, old-fashioned term.

im good with action force. or the force. or the action. or if we dont want to make it world wide participation like action force comes off; usgi. maybe the pitt or a totally different direction and rename them after a "mission" like thunderclap or operation rolling thunder. (mission in this case is obviously named after two large vehicles from the original toyline.) they're a covert mission force, the less naming things the better.

yeah, i like the name of the team being a mission rather than a team. if that makes sense. and cool idea to go along with it, new wave = new mission name. but all part of the same toyline that does not have a name because it's in the mythos for it not to have one for people to know. the whole "covert special mission force" thing. "flint" in one set would be "striker" in another and then "steel". or "chuckles" could be "chuckles" in all 3 because he doesnt take the name changing as seriously as he probably should; but he puts his money where his mouth is and throws missliles and hangs off helicopters in flight after turning them on by swinging the rotors. one mission they work with a mercenary "firefly" that works with the bad guy because they "whatever the mission is called" hired him to do it.

keep it super simple. super generic. like the corps, but with a better stateside distribution for 3.75" o-ring, rivet, screw and steel t-bar action figures and no goal post moving or 6" garbage.

Today's idea:
If it was possible to turn Joe into a worthy and accurate acronym - J.O.E. - the teams could keep their distinctions. J.O.E. Delta Team, J.O.E. Battle Force, J.O.E. Ninja Force, J.O.E. Night Force, J.O.E. Action Force, J.O.E. Adventure Team, J.O.E. Eco Force, etc. But, the acronym ought to be more sensible than some of those that the toys had. Then retire out some of the dated figures and introduce modernized subteams too. I'd nominate AWOL and wedge to come up with that acronym.

In my joeverse, GI JOE stands for Generals Initiative (aka special programs of the JCOS/Jugglers) Joint Operations Environment (where they've assigned 1 lead General to oversee a special team of soldiers selected from any/all other branches).

That's a cool head-canon, Jymree, and I like the SOE reference, AWOL, but "Joint" feels very '80s/'90s. Is there another option that suits the spirit of the franchise as futuristic military, adventure, etc.?
