I remember a long debate many years ago, I'm pretty sure on this site, concerning certain GI Joe members and whether or not they were ever actually in the military before becoming Joes. Quick Kick was definitely one of them, his filecard mentions NO military training at all (beyond some weapon expertise he could easily have gained AFTER joining the Joes) and has him being recruited directly to the Joes while working as a Stuntman.
This started in the late 60s, when G.I. Joe became an 'adventurer'. It would've been better to just have called him Adventure Joe. While Super Joe was a failed miserable line, at least they were keen enough to ditch the G.I. moniker. So we came full circle in 1982, when ARAH put the G.I. back into G.I. Joe. Only for characters like Quick Kick to come along and start to take the line off brand again. Then the sublines came: https://www.hisstank.com/forum/g-i-j...-property.html |

From the sunbow show standpoint, yeah QK is hired on without training. In the same season QK girlfriend breaks into joe headquarters, thought a traitor, breaks into cobra island to prove her innocence. Then they offer her a job. She declines.
Sunbow Joe recruiting standards were a little, uhh, odd. |

I have two....
Cover Girl - how can she maintain her cover girl looks when firing those Wolverine missiles would certainly cause rocket exhaust to burn her face off. Ice Cream Soldier - Who needs ice cream during battle? |

Sgt. Rock had a soldier in his company who also was called Ice Cream Soldier for never losing his cool. Cover Girl just seemed unnecessary, except to give Shipwreck someone to hit on. I don't remember her distinguishing herself above or apart from Scarlett or Lady Jaye.

I'm appalled by this question. Especially from a fellow connoisseur of G.I. Joe. ;-)

Even though I like the character and would buy a Classified version the H.E.A.T Viper helmet is weird. It would have made more sense if it matched the card art. The figure basically is unable to use one of their eyes, and is carrying missiles or ammo around their lower legs which would make moving around a PIA. It would be like going everywhere with ankle weights on. The figure is still cool even though impractical...
I never thought of that. Isn't the Wolverine based on a real vehicle? It probably had a cover and the crew fired from safely inside. Either way, she needs head protection, at least. |
