Indeed. It's amazing how many different ways GI Joe can be presented. An Eco-Warriors line could work, DEF could work, Ninjas could work (it's pretty much what the comic became in '93-'94), Adventure could work (honestly, many of the Sunbow episodes could work even without the military aspect).
And Renegades showed you can even use Joe characters in a completely different setting and it can work! |

Special Missions, if we're allowing comic spinoffs to count as sublines. The same way X-Men had so many different books, Joe could have spinoff mission focused groups of four or five repeating characters who act as an independent, but aligned, unit.

So if I understand this right, you mean take a piece that was originally GI Joe and make into it's own thing completely separate from GI Joe? I think spin offs like Adventure Team can really work, but I would still connect it to GI Joe in some way even if just in name.
