Dreadnok Twins posts made me think....Which Joe (or Cobra) do I think was either not used to their narrative potential or maybe was cheated out of their due in some way in either product on the shelf or media exposure? Expound on the why if you can? What did Hasbro/Hama miss in the FC that could have made them great to use?
Airborne (Franklin Talltree) jumped off the card with his tan and blue uniform, sculpted helmet and detailed accessories back in 1983. Whether his limited use in the comic and cartoon, where they never drew him correctly I might add, Airborne never really got an opportunity to shine. Joe seemingly only had room for one Native American soldier and that was Spirit. Airborne was first and should have received all that love...batting Storm Shadow on Sunbow and multiple appearances in Marvel. That being said, still the most egregious thing done to him was taking his code name and giving it to lame-ass dude with basically the same MOS! Lots of Joes got replacements, but who had their codename striped and given to a replacement? Why Larry? Why Hasbro? Last edited by Mainframe77; 07-09-2021 at 11:51 AM.. |

Beach Head. He is one of the coolest characters and would do well in the spot light.
There are a few: Cross Hairs, Dart, and maybe the individual Vipers. Some special mini series about some Vipers deployed in some random Cobra conflict would be pretty cool. |

Ever since I was a kid I always felt Scrap Iron was underused.

Outback. He had that one cool story in the comics, and then nothing.
Actually Low Light too.

I'll admit to bias, because he is one of my favorite characters, but I do believe Stalker has been under-utilized, even in the comics. I would love to see him get a little more of the spot light... and please let him get the classified treatment soon

Really, I'd love to see a GI Joe: New Recruits like the X-Men did with New Mutants and introduce a bunch of new Joes. I'm honestly tired of the ninja thing which just seems stupid and a relic of the 80s. I am also tired of Snake Eyes, Duke, Scarlett, etc.
I'd like to see more of Helix, Falcon, Beachead, Asp, Freestyle, Agent Faces, Bombstrike, even though Wraith is dead, I would have loved more of him. I actually want to add his pic as my avatar. How do I do that?? The female Snake Eyes is awful... |

For the Joes:
Cover Girl and Low Light both got really interesting back stories on the file cards but Hama barely used them in the original Marvel run. Cover Girl, and to a lesser extent Low Light, got much better treatment in the show. For the Cobras: Firefly. Hama used him all the time, but made him a chump, drastically different from the file card. Again, Sunbow treated him a lot better. I'm also gonna echo Breakerfan on Scrap Iron. Dude barely shows up in either the comics or the show, and he had so much potential. |

I'm just going to say "A bunch of the nu-sculpt era characters."
Specifically Barrel Roll, Bombstrike, and Blackout had a very Hama-esque subplot woven into their filecards, and Crosshairs was a great idea for a new character that never really got any spotlight at all. Cobra didn't do as well with new characters in the nu-sculpt era, but Munitia had promise. For old-schoolers I feel like Interrogator and Big Boa both fill important niches that should've made them a bigger deal in the grand scheme of things. |

Our world is forever in debt to that greatest generation, those brave Americans of WWII, and our nickname for them, "G.I. Joe" is forever immortalized with the name of this beloved toy line we are discussing.
One character among the many Joes which lack any comic, television, video game, or cinematic representation is the brightly colored 1994 Battle Corps action figure whose very distractive appearance on the battlefield was intended to draw enemy fire much like that of the dreaded Cobra Alley Vipers. The G.I. Joe team's "cool under fire Commando" exemplified the traits of an infantryman that could keep cool under pressure, no matter what chaos or carnage was happening around him, and while the antiquated WWII expression for that doesn’t get used much anymore, it did once in 1994 with the action figure code named: "Ice Cream Soldier". Expounding on the why: The reason is easy. Look at the year. 1994, when Hasbro acquired Kenner, and was re-organizing their company. The G.I. Joe cartoons and commercials had ended, the comic deal with Marvel was ending, and it was "last call" at the bar when Ice Cream Soldier entered at closing. The remaining Kenner employees would be allowed in 1995 and '96 to take G.I. Joe in different directions, with new characters we hardly remember or acknowledge today.
