I don't think barracks are a safe place for collectibles/figs .. I'd keep them under wraps.

Go check into a motel, open'em up, play with'em, pack'em up, and send them home.
If they catch you coming out of a motel, at least you can tell them you were with a hooker.

OK, I agree with the wait crew.
The only things worse than having unopened stuff is: 1:Someone stealing it 2:Someone stealing and giving it to the cadre However, since you have a car... a few questions. Do you ever get to leave post to go into lawton? Do you ever get to go alone? If the answer is yes, smuggle an item with you out to the car. When you get to walmart or wherever, You can use a box knife to open the bottom of most card bubbles and slip the plastic figure holder out leaving the majorityof the packaging in tact. Desireable for futurre display and once you are done "inspecting" the item, you can replace it for storage and smuggling back into your locker. Yeah, you waste some gas leaving the car running in the parking lot of the wal-mart, but you'll stay nice and cool and none of your bunkmates will suspect your plastic fetish. Oh yeah, don't leave em in the car, the 110 degree heat will warp or melt them if left for a long period, but they do tolerate it pretty well as long as they aren't in direct sunlight. |

We're free to roam here, so smuggling back and forth from the car is not an issue, other than being a pain in the neck. Now imagine having to figure out how to shoot the next episode of Axis Power. Might have to get a hotel room for that!

show your joes get made fun of but retain your badassness or hide who you are out of fear and be a chump who doesnt deserve respect.
thats my mantra, not trying to offend exactly. i always bite the bullet and just be myself because at the end of the day my self respect is more important than how many faces i have to punch. |

Normally I'd say suck it up and take some ridicule, but since it also looks like you'll have a very good chance of being short some stuff if you open everything I'd say hold off.

Okay, here is the master plan:
1) Call branch and ensure that you are stationed within 17th FA BDE or 593rd ORD on Ft Lewis. 2) Message me get my adress and Mail them to me. 3) I'll open your figures and play with them in my office until you come up here. 4) as a thank you I get some extras. Aside from the master plan, I would recomend sending them somewhere else. If they are valuble to you and someone else knows it that is reason enough for them to think they would be valuble to someone else. I had the same problem when I was in training but with comic books mainly and DVD's I aquired more than I could pack at one time and take with me when I PCS'd and tons were stolen oneday out of my wall-locker. So I would just send them to safety. |
