Never really liked how bulky the toys were. The only one I really liked was Dodger and even my modern line, the only BF2000 figure I kept was my SF Dodger as I sold off my club BF2000 set.
The set I sold:

I kinda liked the team when they were in the comic, less impressed with the toys, but by the time they hit the UK I was in secondary school and didn't get too many Joes post 1988. I had Battle Armour Cobra Commander in '89, Storm Shadow v2 and Tiger Force Duke in '90, Rock'n'Roll v2, Salvo, Sub-Zero and SAW-Viper in '92 and that was it. Last vehicles I had were the Rattler and HAVOC in '88. (only others I had were the Skystriker and Dragonfly.) I was more into Transformers, but I still read the comic in Transformers UK.

I loved all the sub-teams and BF2000 was no exception. However, I've always felt Avalanche was out of place. The team consist of expertise based on skills: a driver, a hovercraft pilot, an aircraft pilot, an anti-air specialist, a communication expert, a maintenance specialist, and ... a snow driver?!?! He's like the Aquaman of the team. "Hey Avalanche, we'll call you when it snows."

i accidentally completed the figures without any effort 20 years ago. once i realized i did that - i was pretty excited about it. granted, this isnt counting dee jay, who i still need his microphone and antenna - but he wasnt in the 2 packs.
id LIKE to get the whole set of vehicles. but without the stupid high prices these toys are now. |

The whole line was directionless and looked very 'cheap' to me as a kid, like Hasbro was knocking itself off.
I think BF2000 hurt GI Joe as a whole and was the first of its big missteps that ultimately killed the line. For the record, I can't remember anyone asking for BF2000 toys, they were just received. |

Without looking everything up to get a fresh take with my current sensibilities - Battle Force 2000 is why I quit collecting GI Joe.
When they were coming out I was desperate to get them. I remember my Papaw driving me all over Wilmington, NC trying to find them. I can't recall how I even knew they were a thing - comic book ads, maybe? - but I knew the figures were out and I NEEDED them. We were in Service Merchandise when I happened to talk to another kid who had found them at a gas station called Fast Fare, of all places. Papaw didn't believe him, but we drove there anyway. Sure enough, they had the figures right in the front of the store on a spinner. They were overpriced, but I had enough to buy maybe two. Eventually I got most of the figures and all of the vehicles and was just disappointed with all of it. For whatever reason the figures didn't feel like Joe to me and the vehicles felt like cheap knockoffs that weren't very impressive on their own and were even less so when put together to make the fortress. That's my memory of the line at the time. I might feel differently if I sat down with them now. |

Yup. Colonel Marines basically. I liked them. They were the last Joes I bought from ARAH.
