Just realized that the "new sculpt" GI Joe vs Cobra line debuted 21 years ago, 20 years after the launch of ARAH. In other words, the new sculpt era is now older than ARAH was when the new sculpt era began.
(Editorial aside: this was the shittiest batch of figures Hasbro ever stuck the GI Joe logo on, a god awful line-up that kicked off five years of desperately flailing and erratic brand management, endlessly throwing out crappy new sculpts alongside rafts of ARAH repaints with wildly varying degrees of quality/desirability.)

I like NS figures but that might just be because I'm possibly the youngest active member on the forum to date. XP

That's how I felt when the Episode 1 premier was further away than Return of the Jedi had been from 1999. Oh well, be glad we saw those things. Like Vision said, "A thing isn't beautiful because it lasts". I'd honestly hate to be a kid today.
My boy's in 5th grade and there's just too much crap. Too many channels, too many streams, too many games, too many phones and tablets, too much social media, too much crime, etc. So I buy him physical toys and he loves them. Still plays games, but also reads comics and books and plays with toys and gets plenty of exercise. |

I loved 'em at the time because GI Joe was on shelves, I could actually find them and buy 'em cheap, and I still love 'em because I have good memories of them. Far too many of you take all this silly shit far too seriously. Gettin' real tired of people dragging their boring entitled adult asses and nerdy whiny into my childlike pastime. Not necessarily directed at you Nancy. There's just so much inconsequential complaining, whining and out-of-touch bullshit here.

The figures are oddly proportioned, but the vehicles look much sturdier than the ARAH ones.

Crazy to think that line came out in 2002. I loved the new sculpt era - I've mentioned before my toy hunts during my summer breaks from college in 2003/2004/2005 to buy up as much as I could of those figures and vehicles. That era is a good memory for me.

You know, you wouldn't know some of us are 40+ years old if you just went by the behavior here. Buncha whiny, bitchy miserable pricks.

I still have totes filled with all that stuff from that era. Yes - the vehicles were great. Some figures were much better than others... but overall they were a great continuation of the GIJoe name and brand. I'd love to see some stuff from that era get revisited in Classified. Dart, Turtleneck Sweater Shipwreck, Blackout, Chief Torpedo, Devils-Due Inspired Destro, Crosshair, Scalpel, Switch Gears, Overkill, Widescope, Barrel Roll...
