So for those OG's out there who collected the figures, watched the cartoon, ate the cereal, and bought the comics, what one issue stands out as your all time favorite issue?? Just 1, or a tie for 1st.
It's def a tie between issue 41 and 48. Both original copies were read to death. We had the creation of Cobra Island in the previous issue that led to the events of issue 41. All hell breaking loose on the newly formed island with GI Joe trying to push Cobra off was awesome. But as we all know, Cobra's lawyers did their job. Ha ha ha. And 48 was just so cool seeing Zartan infiltrate the Pit. All the Joe identities he assumed and all the chaos he caused was awesome. Even tho Hama did not like using Sgt. Slaughter he wrote him in superbly. Him "breaking in" the Motor Pool was hilarious. And the final page in discovering who Zartan truly was, the piece de resistance. So what issue just did it for you?? Ha ha ha Last edited by Code Name; 03-16-2021 at 09:07 PM.. |

#34, Ace and Wild Weasel dogfight!
If it was two issues, it would be the classic #26 and #27, SE’s background story.

I had read some of the comics as a kid, but this was the first issue I read getting back into Joe as a collector. |

I don’t know if it is my favorite issue (that’s tough), but issue 7 was the first I read and I believe the first comic book I ever read. It completely changed my perspective of the franchise (for the better). Going from the cartoon to seeing Cobra Troopers talking about starting with the kneecaps and then getting completely mowed down showed me a G.I. Joe that had previously only existed in my imagination.
Other issues have specific panels or instances that have stuck with me. The picture on Grunt’s nightstand had a major impact on my wedding, and the image of Serpentor’s body sprawled across a HISS Tank with an arrow in his eye is one I will never forget. |

Issue #10 was the first one I had, so that is in the top list, but 21 was the one I looked at over and over. Then 24 & 25. Ah hell, I loved them all!

Issue 25. Intro of Zartan and the Dreadnoks and Mutt and Junkyard as well as many others. Tons of characters and action. Also it was one of my first issues ever and I about read the cover off of it.
