Its a bit bad that Marauder Inc are no longer shipping to the UK...I was thinking of buying a Red MTF Trooper body and a few add on accessories...I've only ever placed one order last year...and then I see their disclaimer...anyone else think this is a disappointment?

That's a shame, I had bought a couple weapon sets from them years ago. Any particular reason as to why the UK has been singled out?

It Is Very Sad indeed they have stopped shipping to the UK.
I have been using MJ since he first started selling his wares. Then his 1/12 too. I Do get the reluctance to pay the £1000 or so Fee to our Greedy Government. However I honestly believe we would have eventally covered that with sales from us all over a year and profit. Biggest part I do NOT get however is MJ used to sell on ebay. Why not just bring that service back for Us in the UK. We could then support MJ for future Lines than being thrown to the cold. |

It has been a big blow to me, I participated in their very first Kickstarter and have been buying from them ever since.

It is an interesting suggestion about ebay as they would collect the VAT and pay it for them. But I suppose that would mean creating listings for every item they sell and monitoring stock levels between ebay and their website. It might be a suggestion that we could write to them with what we wanted and they would create a specific listing on ebay for the total amount. We have currently been singled out but the EU will be bringing in the same VAT requirements in June, and I thought Australia has had a similar scheme in operation for a few years now. Thank you everyone who has taken part in my topic.
I agree, its a very simple thing - Marauder Inc should just list items on eBay - the platform is there for VAT collection etc. I did receive a response yesterday, 8th March 2021 from them concerning this matter which I have quoted here. "Hi! Greetings! The UK now REQUIRES all international sellers to register their companies with the UK government, get a VAT tax identification number, the VAT tax id number is required on all shipments, a 20% vat tax must be collected up front from all UK buyers, sellers are required to provide monthly reports to the UK government about buyers (names, address & value of items purchased) and to provide monthly VAT tax payments. No thank you! If they repeal the regulations, will resume shipping to the UK. Take care! MJ M-GR" What really is silly is that they could easily sell items via email and PayPal alone - customers email them their orders and they simply invoice them via PayPal...Do they even pay Taxes as a registered business? If not, what's the big deal? I feel they are simply being lazy over this issue. Also, its the customers in the UK who (sadly) have to pay the VAT on the items prices and also the postage costs at 20% each...so what do they lose out on? Unless someone can correct me? Because of this, I can't buy $18.06 worth of items plus the usual $12 or $17.05 worth of shipping...I even responded to the email they sent me and no further reply....Perhaps those that helped their Kickstarter appeals should try and get their money back? They've essentially done two things, stabbed those that helped get them to where they are now and they are literally cutting their noses to spite their faces with extremely bad business tactics - cutting out a big market in the UK...and for what? Laziness. Now, because of their silly decisions, I'm in the process of working out a price for ONE red MTF Trooper body sans head....from a guy in Australia of all places... I've only ever placed ONE order with Marauder and that was last year....seems that will be the first and last order I ever place with them then. I just think they are being utterly lazy and from the response I received, they clearly don't give a damn about UK customers.

well, like AF80sFan said, they'll start giving a damn when the EU enacts this kind of thing later in the year (it's already coming, only delayed by the pandemic) and other countries follow suit, like Canada and they're business falls off a cliff.

Any US buyer that's tried to purchase from me - during the Pandemic - has been subject to US online Tax on my purchase prices too. I actually refunded my sales as I am still shielding due to being classed as highly clinically vulnerable to Corona Virus; meaning, I don't even venture to the local Post Office so I can't send items abroad sadly for the time being. Essentially, everyones practically liable to internet sales taxes so I fail to see why Marauder Inc aren't selling to the UK at present... Furthermore, the only way UK buyers can carry on purchasing items, will be to add a US friends address to your account and have items shipped to them. When your friend receives the order, they can then ship it onto your actual UK address - at your cost for the shipping. I've just done that. I made an order, added a US contacts address as the shipping address and paid the US domestic shipping Marauder Inc ask for - $2.95. There wasn't any additional taxes. Marauder Inc should list items on eBay, or take orders privately and invoice us via PayPal, or simply re-jig their website and make the effort to allow for Taxes to be paid so UK customers can buy direct. I'm quite sure they make enough money to employ someone to create an inventory for eBay or take care of the paperwork to pay Taxes on their site when UK customers would buy directly from the Marauder Inc website. .

Expanding on the Ebay idea, if they offered "Ebay" as the payment method for international sales from affected countries on their website people could order as usual and Marauder could keep track of their stock in one place. After you place the order Marauder create a listing for the total amount (plus whatever they want to add to cover Ebay fees, although they should add this amount in the checkout on their site) and email the buyer the listing number. Then the buyer can just go into Ebay and purchase the listing to complete the sale. Ebay will collect the VAT and complete the tax returns along with the millions of other sales they do every day. If they wanted to they could even use Ebay's Global Shipping Programme to ensure it then passes through customs without any delay (although I wouldn't normally recommend the GSP!) In the (hopefully) short term until they do something like this, ordering through family/friends/and contacts in other countries they do ship to seems to be the only thing we can do. |
