I mean I get that, but it's hard to have sympathy if they gave away control...
Don't get me wrong I've been a YoJoe visiter for at least 15 years (probably more but I don't really remember because you know old and stuff) and think it would be a HUGE loss for the GI Joe community. It has also failed to evolve along with the world for many many years now. If it happens to go down then it allows someone else to take up the call and create yojoe2.com or cobralaalaalaa.com or something and build a new database. |

This seems like an extension of the concerns we had last year. Anyone remember when on July 20, 2019 Edgecrusher asked “Now that GIJCC is done, will YoJoe.com be updating their archive 2018-2019?” Quote:

Li is our liaison for Vertical Scope, but all editorials and content are managed by me and my team at YoJoe. Right now we have some business required development of the Buy/Sell/Trade Collection Management System that is taking precedence over development of the figure, vehicle, and comic book database.
Once that is complete, we will be allowed to continue development of figures and vehicles. Unfortunately I am not allowed to discuss anything more. But I have several major code revisions pending that will make the site mobile / Responsive compatible and some other much needed design improvements. We're not going anywhere, we just have to fulfill some contractual agreements before we're allowed to move forward. I have no control over this, for a little bit longer. It sounds to me as if the major code revisions and required development of the Buy/Sell/Trade Collection Management System did not meet the expectations of Li, the Vertical Scope liaison. Will a petition to Joe Pishgar (the Chief Community Officer at Vertical Scope) to overturn the decisions and business interests of Vertical Scope have any considerable probability of success? Maybe RedClaw can come back on this HissTank forum and give us an update.

Yojoe.com is LITERALLY my favorite thing on the internet. When my family finally got internet access in 1996, the very first thing I did was type in GI Joe on Yahoo. The first site to come up was Yojoe.com. I literally spent the rest of the night on the site, finally seeing in detail all of the figures I'd never gotten as a kid. I used up all of the ink on the printer by printing out filecards I didn't have. Even to this very day, I'll randomly hop on there to dig into the massive wealth of knowledge it provides. I'd be crushed to see yojoe.com disappear. |

IT does seem silly to have bought it only to wasteland it. Seems like there's probably a great deal more going on than what we're privvy to (as is always the case).

I agree for the most part but.... I have used yojoe for what seems like forever but before that I used James Desimone's guides and before that I relied on using the inserts. My point is things change and maybe it's sometimes for the better. Yojoe.com has been lacking something for a long time. I think someone else pointed out that it never seemed to evolve. I will admit it has been years since I have logged into the forums but I could almost bet they are the same. So for me as of now without knowing and real info beyond what was mentioned by yojoe I can't really side with them. The site was sold so I am sure both parties walked away happy with the deal. If the deal was set that "so" and "so" could maintain it as so long as certain expectations were met and those expectations were not met than sorry not sorry.
