Everyone seems to have the same ideas.
1) Keep a list of what you really want to get. Cuts out impulse buys if you have any sort of willpower. I'm starting to use my trade list for this. 2) Set aside a cetain amount of money a week/month/whatever for Joes. I personally have budgeted $20 a month (significantly down from what I used to do). So far it hasn't been a problem since I went a number of months in the first half of the year with $0. My 7-pack orders ate most of that up! 3) Probably a good idea to discuss the budget with your wife so you don't get into arguments about it. If she's okay about it, and you stick with it, you'll be fine. Be prepared to negotiate though, and I'd advise lowering your spending number rather than allowing her to buy $X of some other crap neither of you need.

What's a budget? Just put everything on credit, pay it back later. No worries.

Well, I think haveing a budget is the way to go...
It's how I do it and it never been a problem. A few years ago I got some trouble with some pre orders that same all at once when they could have come during 3-4 months, I paid but got broke. Now I don't place pre orders if I don't have money for them, that money is put away until the day the item arrives. I live in Sweden but don't shop my figures here, they cost too much, around 20$ each. So I buy them online. Then one good thing too remember is that you can't have it all, make sure that you got money for every thing else that you need to be happy with your life. I put away 250$ each month for figures but I don't go out, drinking and stuff. If I only shop for 130 one month then I got 370$ to play with the month after. |

I'm sure I'm doing it all wrong, I have no budget, I just buy everything I want when I want it. However, the first day I get paid, I look at all the bills due before I get paid again and pay them all. I then use the money left over for toys and food, me and my fiancee have seperate bills for food and such. (We only share house bills)
My biggest problem with how I do this is I leave nothing in savings (except for $30 each paycheck that is direct deposited into a savings account I only use for emergencies) I'm sure I need to find another way |

If you cant pay your bills when they are due,you probably dont need to collect toys. Just my opinion.

2 words: SELF-CONTROL
At 1st when the 25th line started to roll out I was spending crazy money on acquiring what I could. Sometimes I found myself looking for toys instead of buying regular household items. Then the 80's bug bit me and I was now collecting almost anything that was from the 80's making a comeback! I knew it was getting out of hand so I scaled back my spending a lot recently and I'm actually a happier person now. It allows me to enjoy what I have already and not always wanting the lastest and greatest thing out there. I can actually put back a figure I desparately want and say "I don't need this now, he'll show up again in another wave, no worries." |

If Hasbro had just not released 37 figures before the movie even came out, we would be better off. (I'm holding out on buying the Pit and the NightRaven until I'm feeling rich). |

I think we all need part of our time and money to be budgeted for fun/toys/entertainment/etc. Without that, it would just be work and chores and paying bills, and that seems like a bleak existence. It's easy to say don't buy what you can't afford, but if that means the rich get to have all the fun and the poor get to suffer, well, that's probably why so many people turn to crime. It just seems a little too conservatively dismissive to me.
