The only way to keep scalpers and bots from driving up aftermarket prices is to put all of these collector lines on a Kickstarter/pre-order model, where you have so many weeks or months to order as much product as you want (like the regal CC on Pulse last month), and then that's it.
Of course this will never happen as it doesn't allow for impulse buying, and it makes it difficult to generate new fans of the line, as people will not be able to see them in stores. Plus the toy companies will not make enough money this way.

Plus the toy companies will not make enough money this way. My only reservation would be that I wouldn't have much recourse if I get a figure that has a lot of QC issues. Just today I had to pick through a handful of Luke/Yoda 2-packs to find one with decent eyes and with Luke's hair piece not lifted up on his head. |
