My very first GI Joe figures were (I had 2) Rock and Roll and Flash. My first vehicle was the Skystriker. 2 days later I received Short Fuse and Snake Eyes and my kid brother got a Dragonfly.

I can't remember. The earliest I can remember getting as a present was a Cobra officer v1 (swivel arms). I remember then asking for a second one (I was a very young army builder). But I think I must have had v1 Duke and v1 Cobra Commander at that point. Why would I want just a Cobra blueshirt?

My first was Breaker, straight arm. Not sure if my 7 year old self thought he was cool or if all the cooler guys were sold out.
Second was Short Fuse. Figured he might be the leader (didn't have access to a comic shop until a couple years later). Though I had misgivings about the leader coming with a mortar. Didn't seem right. I never thought the leader would come with a vehicle. I still think that was a lame move. Hawk would have out sold SF carded. Short Fuse should have been a pack in figure. Third buy was a huge score. I had a few weeks of allowance and nabbed Stalker, Rock n Roll, and Snake Eyes at a freshly packed Joe aisle at TRU! I felt my team was really legit then! My brother had straight arm Grunt and Bazooka. My last Straight arm guy (besides the mail away CC) was Flash. After that my remaining OG 16 were all 83 reissues.

1986 Viper. The overall aesthetic and added play value over all other figures I was aware of at the time sold me instantly, and hooked me for life. I immediately dropped MOTU, TF and SW.
